I se the Hydro Hotel wants to convert its lawned area into a car park. I've always thought this hotel would really benefit from a refurb to restore its former glory.

Can anybody remember seeing any adverts seeking someone to take on the restaurant?
I've seen it advertised on one of the commercial property sites. Thing is, it would be easy to advertise it at a sky high rent, so that no-one takes it on, then apply to CCBC to convert the space into more apartments. Or am I being too cynical..?  ?{}?

I do not think so, DaveR.

I remember commenting on this forum a few years ago that planning permission only included enough parking places for the apartments.

I see the Hydro Hotel wants to convert its lawned area into a car park.

The comments I have seen so far appear to ignore the fact there is a car park a few yards away at Venue Cymru that is accessible between the Four Oaks Hotel and the Swimming Pool.

A hotel on Llandudno's North Shore promenade has been put up for sale.

The Kinmel Hotel, a 19th century Grade II listed building, has come to the market through specialist business property adviser Christie & Co.
They believe that the increasing popularity of Llandudno as a resort will see strong interest in the (28 bed) hotel.
It is on the market for £595,000.

It's really sad how the the once proud Daily Post has declined in recent years. Going from what was once a well resourced regional paper to a toned down version of the Daily Mirror is a great shame. The website is awful, festooned with adverts everywhere you look and an ever decreasing number of 'real' stories padded out with rubbish like 'You'll be AMAZED at how this cat can ride a bicycle' and similar nonsense. No disrespect to reporters like Tim Davidson who are doing their best but its no wonder the circulation is in decline. The Weekly News is no better, with half the stories being a cut and paste of one that have already appeared in the Daily Post a few days earlier, house features obviously culled from Trinity's other North Wales papers and Times Past Images from Bangor and suchlike!  &shake&

It's also amazing how they think giving VIP parking to their Sales Person of the Month, which amounts to nothing more than a small space beside the bins, is an incentive for hard work and dedication.

As for the Post itself, we all work very hard to deliver the best newspaper we can. Technical issues some may have with the website are out of our hands as reporters.

As for perceived decline in quality, it's a balancing act (and one we don't always get right) between cats riding bicycles (stories which are always really popular), longer investigative pieces and breaking news.

I think the Post still break most of the stories in North Wales and deliver good exclusives.

Always happy to hear feedback.

I think a bit of interest into why the Tudno castle is delayed or in depth look into MBI or what does town need to attract large investors ,ok they will not upset CCBC and will not upset Mostyn estates so no chance of any interesting articles

Wrex, do you know anything about the present position with the Castle Hotel?
Work to  transform the site into a 63-bed Premier Inn, restaurants and retail units was set to start in March 2016 but nothing appears to have happened.
The hotel which is in a prominent position in  Llandudno has lain empty since closing in 2008, and has become one of the seaside town’s biggest eyesores.   I wonder if they are now trying to get the whole building demolished instead of keeping the front as a facade and that is the reason for the delay?
