Anyone know when the Clarence travelodge is going to open ?  :D

Their website seems to be accepting bookings from 15th December so it looks like it will be open just in time for Christmas.

The Travelodge parking I think will be easier than the Premier Inn, there are the two pay and display, and plenty of free parking on Gloddaeth St/Ave close by.
The Premier Inn might do a deal with the retail park, tor their clients?

Already there are few parking spaces around The Clarence, will be interesting to see what happens! I expect that a lot staying would have previously stayed in the many private B & Bs so could park outside them whilst staying in the Travelodge!

I have just gone on the Travelodge site....double room, two people...23Dec/27Dec...£32 flexible rate/£20 Saver rate per night.
These rates will bring people to the town, good for local business, but the hotels.....

I wouldn't even contemplate this if I was them, the reason being that the retail park car park is "managed" (and I use that word in the most ironic sense possible) by Parking Eye.  This is a company that's not exactly known for operating ethically or abiding by the rules, even it's own, so any deal would inevitably lead to a barrage of complaints from Premier Inn guests "accidentally" being issued with parking charge notices and having to face the subsequent harrassment that Parking Lie's business model entails.  It would be a PR disaster.

Parking Lie and the litter wardens are universes apart when it comes to scamming.  I've just done a Google search for "Parking Eye Scam" and it's returned "about 6,230,000 results".  It would take the wardens countless millennia to even get close to that.

The Travelodge patrons will park in exactly the same places as the Clarence hotel patrons and the Premier inn will park in the station car park which has never been full yet.
