How wage subsidy could pay workers in one North Wales town this winter
The new ‘Retain to Innovate’ scheme is for tourism and hospitality staff and businesses in Llandudno
A winter wage subsidy for tourism and hospitality workers in Llandudno has launched.
The new ‘Retain to Innovate’ scheme is designed to help with the retention of seasonal employees or the early recruitment of staff to prepare for summer 2022.
It would see the incomes of staff in hotels and restaurants supported during the off season to keep people employed all year-round.
Both the businesses and the subsidised employees will be required to undertake a short innovation project to support and benefit the businesses’ future activities.
Firms also need to be:
■ In the tourism or hospitality sectors.
■ Based in Llandudno.
■ Employ 3 x Full time employees or more.
■ Have a turnover of more than £85,000 per annum.
■ Scheme will cover the full cost of the supported employee’s salary that will be undertaking the innovation project.
■ Wages would be paid for a maximum of three months.
■ The applicant (Business) is expected to make every effort where possible to continue to retain the employee outside of the funded period for the wage subsidy.
