A hotel in Llandudno is set to complete the redevelopment of a next door property that will see it add luxury bedrooms to the site.

The four star Dunoon Hotel took on the former Grand Ash site on Gloddaeth Street last year.
The owners then secured a £500,000 finance facility from HSBC UK to carry out an extensive refurbishment project.

Good news, but no mention of planned use for the property, hotel or ?

Update on future of prominent Llandudno hotel that went into liquidation last year
Scaffolding is currently up at the Ambassador Hotel to protect it from the elements.

The estate agent handling the sale, Wignall Brownlow, based in Manchester, has revealed a sale has been agreed for the site.
The deal is not quite over the line but a deal has been signed, subject to contract.

They are not in a position at this stage to give any details about the buyer for the site.

A deal would be good news for the resort with hopes any new buyer would put some much needed investment into the site.  ref DP

Offers have been made for three North Wales hotels that have been in administration for several months.      ref DP

Gavin Woodhouse’s company Northern Powehouse Development (NPD) saw its hotels in Llandudno and the Conwy Valley go into the hands of administrators Duff & Phelps last summer.

The seaside resort hotels Llandudno Bay Hotel, Queens Hotel and The Belmont Hotel.
Now administrators have confirmed that they have received offers for the three Llandudno sites.
Negotiations are now taking place with the hope deals can get over the line before the season gets into full swing this spring.

Do we have any information as to the potential buyers?  Reason I ask is that it's not unknown for failed companies to simply change their name and re-acquire properties.

My first thoughts exactly, but no further details at the moment, I have always thought that practice was legal fraud, with no thought for their creditors.

Hilton Garden Inn hotel taking shape at Conwy Valley surfing lagoon
The 106 bedroom site will be one of the biggest hotels in North Wales.

The Hilton Garden Inn site that is set to become one of the biggest hotels in the region is taking shape next to the world first inland surfing lagoon in the Conwy Valley.

The envelope of the flagship 106-bedroom hotel at Adventure Parc Snowdonia is now complete, with work starting this week on internal walls, along with the mechanical and electrical fit out.

Re: Hotel and Business News..........Re business rates.

Welsh Government has vowed that every penny of extra funding for Wales that stems from the UK chancellor’s decision to scrap business rates for thousands of English firms will go into supporting companies in Wales.

Chancellor Rishi Sunak on Wednesday announced that the UK Government is scrapping business rates for small venues and shops this year in response to the coronavirus crisis.

In his Budget speech, he said other venues, such as bed and breakfasts, gyms and leisure centres, with a rateable value below £51,000 would pay no business rates.  cont  https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/coronavirus-cash-north-wales-businesses-17915516

Recent action by Britannia Hotels, owners of the Grand Hotel in Llandudno. Will it be next?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-51972372

Staff at a Highland hotel have been sacked and made homeless amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The owners of the Coylumbridge Hotel near Aviemore told workers who live at the hotel complex to leave the premises immediately.
They were given a letter, dated 19 March, to say the hotel was "taking the latest government advice" and that staff employment had been terminated.
The hotel has yet to comment on the issue.
More than a dozen employees were given the letter from hotel manager Mark Johnston also telling them to vacate their accommodation immediately.

Can anyone clarify what the current situation with hotels is in terms of are they self regulating or do they have to close? It seems to me they are as big a risk to passing the virus than many places that have been told to shut.

I am confused also about shops.

I am sure they were mentioned yesterday by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

It's ambiguous.  They can't close all shops, since that would include supermarkets. However, they have closed all restaurants, cafes, hospitality venues...that seems to include hotels. And since the restaurants in the hotels have closed it'll make it tricky to stay open.

Hotels are self regulating at the moment The Imperial Hotel has chosen to close this Sunday, yet The Grand Hotel is staying open. Personally I think they should all close as the only way to stop this terrible virus is to isolate.

A holiday park group has made the decision to close its parks in Gwynedd, Conwy and on Anglesey - saying it's the 'right thing to do' amid the coronavirus crisis.

St David's Leisure owns St David's Park on Anglesey, Coed Helen, near Caernarfon, and Berthlwyd Park near Conwy.

It said the numbers coming to the parks had been far in excess of what they expected - saying they had now reached the "most difficult decision" to close the three parks at 6pm today.    cont.   https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/holiday-park-group-shutting-three-17961795

Quite a lot of instances of people saying the equivalent of 'People aren't doing what they've been told. Because of this shocking news, we'll have to change things.'

Is it really a surprise that people are idiots? Many regard the instructions with regard to 'social distancing' as meaning anyone except their friends, close family, the lady over the road...
