FYI, an aunt of mine recently contacted the Grand Hotel for a rate for B&B to stay for one week in July and was quoted £800.

She has since booked the hotel next door to the St Georges Hotel on the promenade for around £200.

I also notice from DaveR’s link that the Grand Hotel still offer a Wedding Package for £999 and that is untrue because a close friend recently phoned the Grand and established that £999 is out-of-date and the new price now starts from £1,500.

I suggest you visit www.laterooms.com and see what is available

When we were looking to move to the area (2 years ago) we stayed in the Grand through "Superbreaks" for £40 per room B&B with Sea view.

Juno without doubt you will be more than happy with this B and B run by friends of mine.  They are lovely rooms and very cheap for Llandudno.  I know their E Mail is down at the moment so you'd be better off phoning, details are on the link below.

Bri Roberts.
If your aunt has booked where you inferred that she had-- please read Trip Advisor.

As a Guest House owner I tend to shut up on these items but "Next door to the St Georges" is not somewhere I would send a "Loved One"

I'll pass the message on but she is only booked in for B&B.

I have just read the Trip Advisor reports.

Wow !!

I have since spoken to the Iris Hotel next door to the Imperial Hotel and done a new deal for 2 weeks on B&B for my aunt.

This Iris Hotel has been refurbished and has only been open for six weeks.

The booking at the previous hotel will be cancelled.

Thanks for the tip-off.  $thanx$

Who owns the 'hotel next to the St Georges'? Whoever it is should be ashamed of themselves, those reviews are absolutely appalling - it sounds as though a night in the Clarence in its present state would be preferable!

Just been looking through some of the TripAdvisor reviews - what is very apparent (and I've seen this on other review sites like QYPE) is that some of the reviews are obviously falsified by the business owner. You can always tell them because they usually have only 1 or 2 reviews, they go into too much detail and never have anything even slightly critical, whilst other reviewers are slating the place.

I'll make one up as an example...

"The Example Hotel was FANTASTIC! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and what lovely rooms. Children loved it, they didn't want to leave! Food was out of this world and the waiter was so attentive. I couldn't believe what good value their special weeknight offer is! We intend to return VERY SOON."

Glad you have read the reviews and acted accordingly Bri.As Llandudno Trust says, it isn't for us to comment, but I agree with him, how can the powers that be allow such conditions to carry on.

The other problem is that  negative reviews are often inserted by competitors.
