A friend has the First Extravaganza recorded on a VHS. video. He would like to have it transferred onto a DVD. Anyone know who could do it ?

I do believe that ther is a small interface you can buy to connect the Video player to your computer and transfer the information and make DVD's.  Have a look on Maplin's web site or even Amazon.   ££$

Quiggs, if your friend doesn't want to do it himself, Jessops will do it.

;) Reading the front page of the Pioneer it makes it sound as if the event is smaller this year, but that is only on the friday, full size over the weekend. Z**

I thought he would be doing a bit of "barking" for one of the side shows!   L0L    L0L

barker :  a person in front of a side show, theater, store, etc. who tries to attract customers by loud, animated talking

Just been browsing the coach firms to see how much interest there is and some firms are bringing coaches in every day, most are from the midlands and Manchester but a few daytrips from as far afield as Kettering,Leicester ,Goole fair journeys and with the two special trains in over the weekend it all looks good. Ibelieve there is a new website being developed which will not go amiss. ;):)

The last paragraph aptly sums up the present situation as far as I can see.

"At this time The Extravaganza had sufficient attendance to attract the attention of modern funfair operators. Changes to the Committee left them with little choice to allow the Heritage focus to be diluted by the ingress of modern fairground attractions offering substantial payment to attend. This dilution peaked in 2006 when public opinion said that the whole event had become nothing more than a modern street fair, squeezing out the Traditional Entertainment that carried popular support."
