Congratulations! I was in town today but unfortunately too early to hear them. I bet it will sound wonderful and very romantic!

Caught some of the bells, but the thunder and lightening rather spoilt the effect !. Hope you both had a lovely day.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes etc. It was a very pleasant day but I can tell you that 50 years ago on 28th March (Easter Saturday that year) that it did not thunder and lighten, well not weatherwise anyway!
The ringing went pretty well having started a bit later than scheduled, but a jolly good day all round.

Monday 4th August 2014

A quarter peal (approx. 45 minutes) will be rung half muffled on Holy Trinity's bells to commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War. The ringing will commence at 7pm.

Following the quarter peal,  general ringing will continue half muffled until 9pm. as a mark of respect to all those who died in the conflict          of 1914/1918, and in other conflicts since.

The quarter peal was completed and ringing continued until 9pm.

During that time a number of visitors, (drawn by the bells they said) came to the Church. Most were from various parts of the UK, but others were from France, Spain and Austria.
