Mrs H called me to listen to a mother and son singing "Rise Up" apart from it being a very apt song for the times, I would not mind buying some shares in this young mans future earnings, and his mother is a fantastic singer, most enjoyable........

Indeed. He has excellent control of his counter tenor. He's a secondary school head of music.

Talking Pictures TV channel a lockdown hit    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-53111684/talking-pictures-tv-channel-a-lockdown-hit
Family-run Talking Pictures is based out of a garden office in Hertfordshire in the United Kingdom.

The TV channel has become a huge hit with nearly six million viewers a week during lockdown. It specialises in British-made films of years gone by.

An independent archive film and television channel
You can watch Talking Pictures TV on Virgin 445, Freesat 306, Freeview or Youview 81 or on the Sky digital satellite platform, channel 328.
Do you remember the thrill and excitement of Saturday Morning Pictures? Where heroes and villains and clowns and crooners, invariably in glorious black & white, would entertain you for hours. Now those glorious days return, and it’s not just for Saturday mornings. It’s twenty four hours a day. Every day!

So, grab your bag of popcorn and your drink on a stick, take your seat in the one-and-nines, and re-live some of the rarest gems from British film history; plundering the deepest and darkest vaults of Pinewood, Twickenham and Shepperton Studios to present a wide variety of nostalgic treats.

Whether it’s westerns or weepies, comedies or creepies, Talking Pictures TV has it all. Relive some of the rarest and greatest gems from film history.

Melt to the heart-breaking romance of Michael Denison and Dulcie Gray in ‘The Glass Mountain’. Gasp at the chilling horror of Sir Donald Wolfit in ‘Blood of the Vampire’. Bop to the pioneering rock ‘n’ roll of Terry Dene in
‘The Golden Disc’, and thrill at John Bentley as the dashing novelist cum amateur detective Paul Temple.

Creature Feature ‘Gorgo’ sees Bill Travers tackle a prehistoric monster who emerges from the depths to rampage across London. Horror legend Boris Karloff brings his television sleuth to the big screen in ‘Colonel March Investigates’, ‘Dixon of Dock Green’ star Jack Warner plays an altogether tougher policeman in the Brighton-based thriller ‘Jigsaw’, and Michael Redgrave and James Mason join forces for the genuinely creepy ‘Thunder Rock’.

The public are being encouraged to give a round of applause at 17:00 BST for all those who helped save lives during the coronavirus pandemic.

The National Health Service was launched on 5 July 1948, with the core principle that it is free at the point of delivery and is based on clinical need.

On Sunday evening, the nation will clap to show its thanks for the service, in what is hoped will become a yearly tradition.

The idea was inspired by the success of the weekly Clap for Carers which saw households across the country show their appreciation for the NHS and other key workers during the height of the coronavirus crisis.

LLANDUDNO's daring mountain goats headed to a barbers in anticipation of a quick trim. ref Pioneer

Brian Lane snapped this fantastic photograph of the town's Kashmiri goats as they 'lined up' outside Just Jents on Trinity Avenue.

"I couldn't believe how perfectly lined up they were. I think it speaks volumes on how the town and its businesses are waiting to get back to work safely.

Wales' First Minister Mark Drakeford said hairdressers and beauty salons should reopen from July 13 by appointment only.
It seems the goats will be first in line!

What a great and fitting honour for this gentleman.......

Captain Sir Tom Moore has been knighted in the Queen's first official engagement in person since lockdown.

The investiture to honour the 100-year-old, who raised more than £32m for NHS charities, was staged in a "unique ceremony" at Windsor Castle.

He has been recognised for walking more than 100 laps of his garden in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire.

Capt Sir Tom, originally from Keighley, West Yorkshire, said it was "an absolutely outstanding day".

"I am absolutely overawed," he said,

"This is such a high award and to get it from Her Majesty as well - what more can anyone wish for? This has been an absolutely magnificent day for me."
