It was, but the camper was later released from Cumbria's hospital.

This is a tricky issue; we can't eliminate 'dangerous activities' unless everyone is confined to their houses in armchairs. Mountain climbing is dangerous, of course, but it's also good for us (not sure I feel that way about potholing :-) and we need managed risk to keep us healthy. What we don't need is those who venture out totally unprepared.

But it's an interesting topic.

I had a look at insurance cover, a bit complicated but, could be arranged, but probably only by responsible people, and not those who need it.?

This is from the GoCompere site........... https://www.gocompare.com/insurance/individual-sports-and-hobbies/
There's a wide variety of cover available, depending on the risk associated.
Walking in the Cotswolds is obviously considered a far lower-risk activity than scaling a particularly difficult high-altitude peak in the Antarctic, and this will be reflected in policies and premiums.

The British Mountaineering Council (BMC) https://www.thebmc.co.uk/  offer a range of insurance to cover walking, trekking, rock climbing, abseiling, skiing and snowboarding through to climbing in remote and inaccessible regions.

Operated through ProSight Speciality Insurance, the benefits include not only liabilities and medical cover as well as loss and damage to equipment, but search and rescue expenses of up to £100,000.

The two campers in the Lake District had set out to do wild camping on a mountain for the night in sub zero temperatures. There was snow on the ground as well as icy conditions generally. It was asking for trouble to do that as well as being unlawful due to Covid restrictions. Their selfish stupidity has caused one of the rescuers to suffer life changing injuries and I heard he will never walk again. I hope they lose sleep for the rest of their lives.

Police catch 'large volumes' of motorists breaking lockdown by heading to Welsh beauty spots
Some were caught with no licence or insurance.     Let's hope that in those incidents the cars were seized and the offenders were made to make their own way home       $good$

Merseyside couple returning from Dubai hit with £20,000 in fines after failing to quarantine
They have since been taken to a designated quarantine hotel

"In this instance, the pair in question avoided a direct flight route back from Dubai to one of the specified airports in an attempt to evade this process, however, this was ultimately unsuccessful and has now resulted in a significant fine of £10,000 each.

I had an e-mail from a friend in Anglesey and he advised me that over the last weekend the Police had issued 30 fines for Covid offences at Newborough.      On Sunday the Police were subject to a lot of abuse from Covidiot yobs who had traveled from Manchester for the day.
He wondered what it would be like in Newborough at Easter time when the idiots will be coming over in droves.

Welsh Government offers no guarantee you can travel far when stay at home rule is lifted
The next 21 day restrictions review announcement takes place on Friday, March 12

The Welsh Government has offered no guarantee that people will be able to travel far from their homes when the stay at home rule is lifted.

Since lockdown began in December, people in Wales have been told that they can only leave their home if they have a reasonable excuse, like work, buying essentials or exercise.

And while exercise which starts and finishes at home has been permitted, driving to do so is not.

Two weeks ago, at the last 21-day review, First Minister Mark Drakeford indicated that the stay at home rules would end, Wales Online reports.

However, it does not automatically mean you will be able to travel as far as you like within Wales after this point.

I'm afraid that there are many people who are just not complying with the lockdown rules, in fact I only know of three people who have not broken the rules in one way or another.     More people were compliant in the first lockdown when car parks were closed and Colwyn Bay had a ban on cars parking on the promenade with a notice saying that any cars that were parked there would be towed away.
Some people seem to defy the law and think like that idiot from Rhos on Sea.   To quote him " Is it not our most basic human right to decide for ourselves what is good and essential for our well being?"
Then they complain when they are caught breaking the law.        &shake&

A search party made up of more than 20 volunteers, police, and dog rescue teams were called out to find a pair who visited a Welsh beauty spot.

Two women travelled more than an hour to visit a waterfall yesterday to exercise, despite the current stay at home lockdown restrictions.
They are not just Covidiots but selfish irresponsible stupid people
