Covid restrictions enforcement
« on: March 25, 2020, 11:38:24 am »
It's started very seriously.  Police stopped a group intending to camp and sent them packing.

Meanwhile, Police on the A55 will intercept caravans and turn them back.

I imagine the next step will be for penalties to be enforced.

Changes made to services in Conwy in response to Covid-19 strict measures.

Play Areas
All play areas are closed in the interests of public safety. Parks will remain open for the time being - please be responsible and keep to social distancing guidelines.

Waste and Recycling
To keep refuse and recycling collections going, Conwy County Borough Council said they need help in protecting staff.

A spokesperson for the local authority said: "If your household is self-isolating because someone has viral symptoms, please do not put your recycling out for collection for 14 days. After 14 days, you can put out your recycling and we will take any extra that doesn’t fit in your trolibocs.

"Don’t forget to wash your hands before you put out your bin and recycling containers, and again as soon as you bring them back in."

Crest will not be collecting pink or purple recycling bags.
No new bookings are being taken for bulky waste at the moment, due to staff shortages at partner Crest.

Household Recycling Centres at Abergele and Mochdre are closed until further notice, in line with Government guidance.

Saturday mobile recycling centres will not be running until further notice, in line with Government guidance.

Mochdre Office is closed - the ERF Advice Team can be contacted on (01492) 575337 or email erf@conwy.gov.uk

I'm afraid until people are ordered off the streets altogether we will continue to have  a minority that continue to carry on as they always have done. They won't stop until friends and neighbours are on ventilators or in the morgue, and even then it still might not dawn on them that they and their kind are responsible.

I think that the majority of the people feel the same as you Dave.

A family-of-five from Merseyside who arrived in North Wales for a day out at the seaside were stopped by police and told to return home.

Officers from North Wales Police's West Conwy Coastal unit stopped the group after they had travelled to Llanfairfechan from Merseyside for a day out on Wednesday.

I was watching the Welsh news last night and some of the things that were said were quite clear and left no room for peoples own interpretation of the guidelines.

For instance I wasn't sure if people could drive to some quiet spot to do their one daily exercise  but they can't.     Any exercise should start from your own property whether it be running, walking or cycling

Driving should only be done as infrequently as possible and then only for the valid reasons that have been stated

Even walking your dog should only be done from home once a day and that is on your one daily exercise.   If other members are in the household then they can take the dog for a walk on that person's exercise.    I no longer have a dog but he used to have at least two walks a day so I'm sure that some people will find it hard to do just the one walk

Avon and Somerset Police have been posting notices on cars telling people that they are not permitted to use your car to travel to your place of exercise. Should be issuing parking fines with them soon too. That would stop it.

Just heard on the news , the law has now been passed that fines can be issued for non essential travel.

I'm told that two police cars were stopping people driving up on to the Great Orme today.

Police who caught a motorist taking their child out for a driving lesson on the "quiet roads" during the coronavirus lockdown have warned people not to make non-essential journeys.

North Wales Police's roads policing unit posted a photo on their Facebook page of a car they stopped, and warned drivers that they are conducting checks.

The unit wrote: "Taking your child out for a driving lesson because you want to make the most of the 'quiet roads' is not an essential journey. refDP
