Derek Fowlds

Derek Fowlds, star of BBC comedy Yes Minister, has died aged 82

Fowlds's first professional acting job was appearing in weekly rep at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Colwyn Bay in 1958, while on summer holiday from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

His TV roles - Yes Minster and Heartbeat - were rather one dimensional.  The Yes Minster role was the better,  but all he did in Heartbeat was play a caricature. Shame, since he was obviously highly capable.
