Trying to find info on Alfred and Winifred Stevenson in the mid to late sixties whilst they were working at Voryn Hall Holiday camp.Quite a lot is known about Alfred who was known as Al Stevens who was known as the famous pantomime cat.I have found lots of paper articles about him but can't bring anything to light about Winifred at all except in the obit notice of Alfred in 1968 it said that she was going to carry on in management at Voryn Hall.Alfred was cremated at Old Colywn.
I know the camp was sold around 1970 and was wondering  if anybody had had tales passed down to them from parents who may have worked  with this couple.
Where did Winifred go?
Did she stay in Wales -Alfred was originally from Manchester and the couple had married there in 1945
Did she remarry
or did she carry on working in Wales.
Any help whatsoever would be much appreciated

Dorothy

I've not heard of the couple or the Holiday Camp so I was curious and had a look on Google to see what it looked like.       I hope someone on here can help you with your research

Like Hugo, I have never heard of this camp and I lived in Colwyn Bay c1968.

Al Stevens must have been well known as he appeared on BBC Children's Hour in 1954. This link mentions him if you scroll down to 17.00 on it.

I found this as well:

I imagine the sale of the camp would have been reported in the local press at the time.

From the death of Alfred Stephenson I note he was born in 1924. That means Winifred would have been born around that time. Do you know her year of birth please?

There are two deaths for a Winifred Stevenson which are possibly for her:

Liverpool RD December 2003, Winifred born 04/01/1926.

Manchester RD December 1999, Winifred born 23/02/1927.

There is a possibility that Winifred remarried have you searched for that? Do you know where she came from originally?

The street and trade directories for Old Colwyn/Colwyn Bay might have entries for her at that time.

I look on Genes Reunited to see if anyone had Alfred in their tree and one lady had Alfred Stevenson born Manchester 1924 on it.

Helig.
