Remembrance Day, Armistice Day 1918  2018 centenary commemorations.

A portrait of poet and war hero Hedd Wyn was created in the sand at Colwyn Bay, Conwy, as part of the Pages of the Sea project, but began washing away as the tide began to rise from 10:30.  ref BBC

It was one of a number of portraits of WW1 figures created on 30 beaches across the UK, in a project led by film director Danny Boyle.    More  https://www.pagesofthesea.org.uk/        (This site has crashed ,due to the high numbers , please try later)

Re. the above.

Hedd Wyn (born Ellis Humphrey Evans, 13 January 1887 – 31 July 1917) was a Welsh-language poet who was killed on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele during World War I. He was posthumously awarded the bard's chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod. Evans, who had been awarded several chairs for his poetry, was inspired to take the bardic name Hedd Wyn ([heːð wɨ̞n], "blessed peace") from the way sunlight penetrated the mist in the Meirionnydd valleys.[1]

Born in the village of Trawsfynydd, North Wales, Evans wrote much of his poetry while working as a shepherd on his family's hill farm. His style, which was influenced by romantic poetry, was dominated by themes of nature and religion. He also wrote several war poems following the outbreak of war on the Western Front in 1914.

I am told our esteemed Member of Parliament, Guto Bebb neither turned up or even  gave a wreath for the Llandudno Remembrance event.
He was not at either of the others but did at least have representatives there to place wreaths.
I think it a very poor show he did not turn up to pay his respects in the constituency .
