The BBC routinely use the phrase 'public interest' whenever they're taken to task about this sort of issue, but an incident of this sort almost defines the phrase. I suspect it's far more to do with the British obsession with North vis a vis South, because it's exactly the same in Scotland.

The Daily Post does a good job, In my humble opinion, with getting out news singularly lacking in political or geographical bias.

Hugo, you will be able to read this later....... ;)

Scores of Colwyn Bay homes hit by power cut

About 50 properties in upper Colwyn Bay are currently without electricity following a power cut. The homes lost power shortly after 12pm today. At first suppliers Scottish Power expected electricity to be restored at 2.15pm but at 3pm they said it would take their engineers until 7pm to complete repairs.

A statement from the energy company said: “We are aware of a power cut in the Colwyn Bay area.

“Our engineers are working to restore supplies and we expect it to be restored in stages.”

Llandudno fireworks display for this coming Saturday 5 November 2016 cancelled according to Llandudno Fireworks Display Facebook page.

We were in Funchal, Madeira, last week and I took this photograph of all these fires blazing away under a straw roof and fencing.

An update on the Llanrwst bridge damage.

Llanrwst Bridge repair work begins as new pictures emerge of tractor crash.
historic bridge is expected to reopen this week after a tractor crashed into it.

The farm vehicle which was towing a trailer smashed into the 17th century Llanrwst Bridge on the B5106 just before 1.30pm last Wednesday - sending stones plummeting into the river.

O k but it's heading "stop press" is a bit much. Hardly an eyebrow will be raised by Llanrwst residents. Yes this was a bigger than average smash but that corner on that bridge has been smashed more times than Cadbury smashed their mash. I first became aware of it around 35 years ago when I first took a full sized coach over. Since then I have scraped a good few times usually because of a badly parked car on the pavement outside what was the queens hotel. And I have seen literally dozens of bad bumps and the wall stones in the river below.
What can be done about it apart from closing to traffic which is not really feasible? Well a golden opportunity was missed when the queens hotel was demolished. But they let apartment blocks to be built on the vacant site. If only say 15 feet of the frontage had been turned into roadspace to allow vehicles o approach the bridge more or less in a straight line the problem would have been solved

There is a queue out of Glan Conwy stretching beyond the village boundary at the south end to Black Cat, where the roundabout is gridlocked.  It's the longest queiue I've seen there at this time (1130) and seems to be being caused by CCBC's decision to trim the trees there.

It's been confirmed that CCBC chose one of the busiest days of the year to close down the traffic flow from Llanrwst to Llandudno at Black Cat. Incredible forward planning.

Returning to the tree cutting at Black Cat Traffic Wales argued that choosing the busiest shopping week of the year to trim the trees and cause major disruption was necessary because the trees posed a hazard to passing members of the public. It's unlikely that the trees abruptly started to become dangerous, so why did Traffic Wales launch yet another, unbelievably thoughtless and stupid  course of action? This isn't the first time they've caused chaos on that stretch of road. Two years ago they decided that the grass on the roundabout needed to be cut, and they clearly thought the best time to start that was at the beginning of the rush hour.

You have to wonder how they arrive at their decisions regarding timing and, perhaps more importantly, who is responsible. Is there anything that Traffic Wales can get right? Discovering the salary of their newly appointed commissioner isn't easy, either.

Hi new to forum so be gentle :)
Just to comment on the post by Ian, Traffic Wales is a traffic information service and aren't responsible for such decisions. However NMWTRA (North and Mid Wales Trunk Road Agency) are, and I agree their timing is terrible!

Hi!  Interesting - although it's not 'Agency' but 'Agent' apparently, and involves the counties of Anglesey, Ceredigion, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd (Lead Authority), Powys, and Wrexham.  Didn't know that, and it's interesting, becuse it puts the ball firmly back in the local Counties' court.
