North Wales weather

Anglesey, Gwynedd and Conwy are predicted to be among the worst hit by possible flooding problems and surface water on roads

The Met Office said there will be “some heavy and persistent rainfall, with 20 to 40 mm possibly quite widely across the warning area, while a few locations may see in excess of 60 mm, much of this falling within a few hours”.

Although forecasters cannot say exactly where will be hit by the heavy rain, the warning is valid from 3pm today until 9am tomorrow.

It's going to be at its worst about 0200.

Big broadband outage tonight, with around 30 area codes affected.  If you lost internet about an hour ago, that was the reason.

And it was-- had to get up and shut the window as it was pouring in. :o

Flash flooding hits homes after rain across Wales

In north Wales, fire crews attended reports of flooding at two homes, in Caernarfon and Bangor.
The River Conwy at Llanrwst in Conwy county also burst its banks after heavy rain.
NRW issued flood alerts for several rivers on Monday.

Earlier, the Met Office issued a yellow warning for the whole of Wales which is valid until 21:00 BST on Monday.
A Met Office spokesman said that floods were a greater risk after periods of dry weather, with hardened ground not allowing water to be absorbed.

Interesting national story..Tesco confirms delivery of Gulfstream jet worth £30m

Tesco has confirmed it has taken delivery of a new private jet worth £30m, a week after major errors were discovered in the company's accounts.
The supermarket's share price has plunged by nearly 50% so far this year.
News of the private jet comes a fortnight after it emerged that Tesco had overstated its profits for the first half of the year by £250m.
The days of unstoppable growth and profits are over thanks to Aldi and Lidl. The days of frugality, hard work and no private jets await

I was trying to get on the A55  eastbound lane at the big roundabout by the Black Cat Garage but Police were stopping vehicles from going up the slip road.
There were loads of Police vehicles and Fire Engines but I couldn't see if there were any ambulances present at the scene.   I'm just guessing but there must have been a bad crash on that sliproad

ROAD CRASH: Emergency services are at the scene of a crash at the Black Cat roundabout in Glan Conwy.

A car is believed to have hit a lamppost at about 3pm and the A55 eastbound entry slip road has been closed.

Motorists heading for Colwyn Bay are being diverted through Mochdre. We'll bring you more details when we have them.

GLAN CONWY CRASH: It was a woman in her seventies who was taken to hospital for treatment after her car crashed into a lamppost earlier.
Emergency services were called to the Black Cat roundabout at Glan Conwy Corner at 2.45pm.
The condition of the casualty, who was in a Jaguar car, is not thought to be life threatening. The A55 eastbound towards Colwyn Bay was closed then re-opened by 4pm.

You can circumnavigate the town itself but it's far from easy.  Fire engines are drawing water from a number of spate streams, so there are pipes everywhere - literally. The fire appears to have gutted the Funeral parlour and the flat upstairs,  It seems to have started at around 0600 this morning. There may have been one death or serious injury.

A 19-year-old man has died and a 39-year-old man is in a serious condition in hospital following a flat fire in Llanrwst in the Conwy Valley.

Police are investigating the blaze above a funeral director's in Ancaster Square in the town, which fire crews were called to just after 06:00 BST.

Details for littering fines on the BBC website today. This was discussed elsewhere on the Forum but I can't find it.
Conwy leads the way on revenue earning £176K. If all fixed penalties are £80 that accounts for £131K.
They might be handing out the fines but folk are still dropping the rubbish.
Littering is a greater number than cigarette littering but both are higher than dog fouling.
Dog fouling is the worst in my opinion as it has some particularly offensive aspects but in it's defence ( well not really but I'm sure you will comprehend my meaning) at least it's biodegradable.
Plastics aren't.
Dog mess in a picked up bag then left in a tree somewhere for another person to clear up. Why ?
Now that winters on it's way they make a very useful hand warmer until the first bin is found $good$
