Very low pressure on our barometer too!

It reached 924 off Scotland. They're not going to enjoy today at all.

My barometer only goes down to 970!

When I worked up in the Brent Oil Field, which is around 85 miles East of the top of Shetland, we had to install specially Calibrated Aneroid Altimeters, to cope with the extreme low pressures that pass through those latitudes but 924mb is by any standard an extremely low pressure. Just glad it miss us.

It looks as though we might not be as lucky this time:

"Widespread gales are likely to develop across the area late on Thursday evening and last much of Friday. The worst of the winds are likely to transfer across northwest Wales and much of northern England during the day on Friday bringing gusts of 60 to 70 mph widely with locally 80 mph gusts affecting west coasts and high ground for a time.

The public should be prepared for disruption to transport and power supplies.
Another deep area of low pressure now developing over the Atlantic will bring another spell of very windy weather across the UK as it tracks northeastwards, crossing northern Scotland during the second half of Friday. To the south of the low pressure centre, a swathe of severe gales is likely to cross  northwest Wales and much of northern England. The worst of the winds should ease on Friday evening. "

Our lights have flickered a couple of times so Mrs R has already brought in a couple of torches from the garage.  :votive:

Very windy in Rhos on Sea! This has just happened, it's being held by the Christmas lights and they are hanging on these excellent stick on hooks!

We have a chap coming tomorrow to sort the roof edging out tomorrow, the piece fell off earlier, I've taken the Xmas lights down now so he has easy access to it, don't think I'll bother putting them up again till next Xmas!

A slightly worse bit of weather damage. The tree went into Conway Road not the other way into the house at 7.00am today. The council have cut it back to the fence and had to divert traffic via Bryn Avenue and Elian Road whilst they did it.

Can recommend a good roofer if you need one.

Thanks but job now done, Nem.

One has to be very careful who to instruct.

I have just paid £60 plus a £5 tip to have done what an elderly couple over the road had paid £150 to have done a little earlier.

Both were local roofing contractors.  &shake&

Hen-Dy / Bay Tree Hotel, has had a rear Chimney stack come down in the high winds. What's left is looking very precarious as you look up from Varde Lane.
