Drive IS open, I went round today.  The Toll House at West Shore is a mess.  Too many people using the drive as a race track!   ^*^0

Building itself looks OK but the wall, gate and frontage has taken a good blow.  Barriers prevent seeing all damage as one drives past.

When I used to travel to China, the customary greeting at Chinese New Year was 'Kung Hei Fat Choi'  (I think), and I always assumed it meant Happy New Year.

After about 6 visits someone pointed out that it actually translates as 'What have you got for me?'  :o

From the Met Office:

"Aberdaron has now recorded a wind gust of 108 mph, the strongest wind gust of the storm so far"

Roads affected by the winds:

The A493 at Pennal in Gwynedd is blocked because of a fallen tree near Pennal Primary School

* The A548 Flintshire Bridge is closed in both directions because of strong winds

* The A55 Britannia Bridge in Anglesey is closed because of an overturned lorry

* The A4067 at Ystradgynlais is partially blocked because of a fallen tree

* The A44 just outside Aberystwyth is partially blocked because of a fallen telegraph pole just after the Lovesgrove Roundabout

But the UK Government is sending in the Army, so best get on the 'phone quick, Ladies.

Perhaps we should have an SOS thread on this Forum?

I for one would be available to help any forum member who is in distress during these storms, (or other times)
I certainly don't do any work in this weather, so what else is there to do?

For example, we could share info regarding power outages, offer lifts, , clear debris, distribute food, candles.... etc.

Good idea, although we could use this topic for the moment. I'll keep grabbing any reports on roads, etc , and posting them straight away.
