I don't know whether or not to post this. I know/knew Peter Moore well. And his father. I even had dealings with Peter, but, before anyone gets the wrong idea --- before all the old cinema caper he got up to he ran the Merchandise Hall in Kinmel Bay and he became quite a specialist in buying job lots, big quantities of all manner of things and selling them off at discounted prices. As at that time I had a shop in Towyn, I did many a deal with him (but, luckily, only in the hours of daylight).
But I found him O.K. to do business with. This was around the early 1980s. But I did notice a difference in him in later years. Thank goodness by then I was into coaching so I lost contact with him.

Mike, see if you can get him a 'day release' ... seeing as he was an aquaintance of sorts, ....he might pay a visit to those lads who have been giving you grief on the Golf Course?

I used to see Peter Moore quite a lot when I lived in Towyn as I'd get my video's from his place.  I always found him a bit odd and he was definitely a "mummy's boy" especially when his mother was around.
There was a bit about him on TV when he was expanding his cinema business and by coincidence I saw  him the next day when he was in the Denbigh Police Station and had a chat with him there.
Some time after his arrest I was speaking to an acquaintance and he advised me that he had to see Moore on a business meeting and Moore had suggested that they meet up one evening at an isolated location. He found the request strange but agreed to it but as it turned out my acquaintance had to call it off due to unforeseen circumstances.
He still shudders at the thought of what might have happened!

Power Cut
« Reply #216 on: December 31, 2011, 07:03:44 pm »
Very inconvenient power cut for over 2 hours this morning. Came back on at almost 8.30.
Anyone else experience the same thing?

It was OK in Penrhryn Bay,  not enough Xmas lights to create a large demand!   _))*

A couple of minutes outage early Saturday morning and then back on again. No real inconvenience just resetting the digital and cooker clocks.

Big hoo-ha in Upper Mostyn street this morning early on, as my OH went for his paper, before 8. Road block, police, fire etc. My Oh couldn't smell smoke, mind you it was raining hard, but couldn't see what was amiss.

From the BBC news website:

A man in his 60s has died in an early morning fire at a flat in Llandudno town centre, say North Wales Police.

The flat was in a house of multiple occupancy and 10 other people escaped unharmed.

Fire rescue teams and police were called to an address on Mostyn Street at about 07:00 GMT on Sunday.

An investigation is under way into the blaze, but officers say it is not suspicious. The man was declared dead at the scene.

Three fire engines and an aerial ladder were used to put out the flames

I'm told it was across the road from Fountains, in the tatty flats at the side of the alleyway.

I'm also told a body has been discovered on the beach at West Shore:

A man's body has been found after an extensive air and sea search off Conwy.

Concerns were raised on Saturday for a local man, and a hunt was launched and then called off at 03:30 GMT on Sunday.

The search resumed at first light for the man, who was in a 20ft vessel described as a day boat, and who told coastguards by mobile phone that he was lost.

The body was found on rocks on Llandudno's West Shore beach just after 09:00 GMT.

The Conwy inshore lifeboat had been launched on Saturday and located the boat - which was registered in Deganwy - about a mile north of the shore.

The search involved two lifeboats, coastguard shore teams and the North Wales Police helicopter.
