When the Americans were having 11/02/2011 it was 02/11/2011 in the U.K. sorry if I’m being pedantic, but it’s interesting to us nerds.

Yes ... in UK the previous palindromic date was 21/02/2012 - 21st February 2012.
But in US the previous palindromic date was 11/02/2011 - November 2nd, 2011.

The date of 02/02/2020 was palindromic for both sides of the Atlantic!

I seem to remember that the same Mr Edward Hiller was going to pay to put Victorian lamp posts on the promenade and we are still waiting for them as well as the Victorian shelters
Can you remember the old St George's School  Norman when it was allowed to deteriorate extremely badly?       Mostyn Estates owned the lease at the time as well as the freehold but why didn't the CCBC issue a repair notice against the company and force it to repair the property at their expense.      The company had no consideration for the town or even the nearby properties and they even allowed a builder to make a planning application to demolish the school and build apartments there
Luckily that planning application was rejected and Mostyn Estates then sold it on at a small price.

Does that mean there will definitely not be a Special Stage going around the Great Orme?

I am not sure, there is a comment about confirming routes in the spring, very disappointing.

Homes evacuated
Homes in Crafnant have been evacuated following a large landslip.

Natural Resources Wales and Conwy Council are giving people support.
We’ll bring you all the latest updates as we get them.  Ref DP

"In the meantime, North Wales Police, Conwy County Borough Council and NRW have advised the residents of nine properties to evacuate their homes as there is a concern that this area remains unstable with an immediate risk to properties and highways in the area.

"There are road and footpath closures in place, and we advise people to stay away from the area."

Staff from NRW will work with the geoscience and engineering experts to monitor the landslide over the weekend when further rain is expected from Storm Dennis.

RESIDENTS in nine homes have been advised to evacuate their properties following a large landslip in the Conwy Valley.

Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and Conwy County Borough Council have have drafted in engineering experts to give support and help deal with landslide and stabilise the mountainside, and hopefully to prevent a further slippage.

This was after a landslip had been identified in the Crafnant area near Trefriw following Storm Ciara.

Sian Williams, NRW’s Head of Operations in North West Wales said: “We are working quickly with a number of partners, including Noprth Wales Police and Conwy council to monitor the landslip and determine if there are any further movements.

I saw this yesterday, and I find it  difficult to know exactly where this is. Is it in the hills surrounding the lake or is it on the hills leading up to the car park? From the positioning of the road closure sign I suspect the latter.

Can't help Ian, both Wales on line and the Pioneer,  are repeating a NRW statement, word for word.

Pictures emerge of Storm Ciara landslide which evacuated homes and 'split bridge in two'
The incident near Trefriw in the Conwy Valley has blocked some roads and trails

"Nearby roads and footpaths have been closed and the access road from Trefriw is blocked.
Geirionydd car park has some surface damage so access is limited and part of the Hafna Miners Trail has some severe surface damage but is walkable with care.
One resident said a bridge came loose and split in two as it slipped down the hill."

Ship's lost load of plastic coils likely to start washing up in North Wales
The National Coastwatch Institution area asking anyone who spots a coil to report it.

Hundreds of plastic coils could wash up across North Wales in the aftermath of Storm Dennis .
A cargo ship travelling from Ireland to the Netherlands had several of its containers washed out to sea last week.
One of the containers, holding 30 pallets of plastic coils, opened and the coils were swept out to sea.

Pipelife UK manufactures the coils, and with the NCI, have coordinated a salvage recover exercise with local authorities and waste collection specialists.

Anyone who spots the coil should contact the manufacturers recover programme directly on 01656782936.            ref DP

Post Office Scandal
« Reply #1799 on: June 10, 2020, 01:07:40 pm »
This week’s Panorama was very interesting about the Post Office scandal and a miscarriage of justice.

The court case was led by Mr Bates the former postmaster of the Wool Post here in Craigydon.
