Liverpool FC’s billionaire managing owner Mike Gordon was onboard the private jet that skidded off the runway at John Lennon Airport this morning, according to Mirror.co.uk

Mr Gordon, known as ‘the man who runs Liverpool‘ by fans, was flying in to the city for series of meetings at the club.

The Bombardier BD-700-1A11 Global 6000 jet, which had taken off from Hanscom Field in Massachusetts, overshot the runway after it landed at 6am.     Ref DP

These two photographs certainly bring home the scale of the present problem.

Let’s all pray for a thunderstorm very soon.

My very good friend Ray Rock who used to own the Headlands Hotel. sold up and moved to rural Victoria. He has just spent this festive season fighting fires with the local volunteer Fire Service, in his local area of Gippsland where the fires have been very intense. Hasn't been quite the idyllic move he intended.  &well&

« Reply #1761 on: January 03, 2020, 11:49:23 am »
IF you've just opened the first page of your new calendar, it might be worth skipping ahead a few pages and checking the month of May.

According to national reports, retailers including WHSmith, Clintons and Paperchase have admitted to having aisles full of incorrect calendars after the Government changed the date of the May bank holiday in 2020.

It was announced in June the early May Day bank holiday will be moved back four days this year to coincide with the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

VE Day - or Victory in Europe Day - is marked on May 8     ref    Pioneer https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/18134238.might-need-check-calendars-correct-may-2020/

Upcoming bank holidays in England and Wales in 2020
1 January - New Year’s Day
10 April - Good Friday
13 April - Easter Monday
8 May (Friday) - Early May bank holiday (VE day)
25 May (Monday) - Spring bank holiday
31 August (Monday) - Summer bank holiday
25 December (Friday) - Christmas Day
28 December (Monday) - Substitute bank holiday as Boxing Day falls on a Saturday

We contacted our friends in Denmark which is on the south coast of Western Australia and thank goodness that they are safe and sound and that the fires have not affected them so far.   The fires are not far from Albany though  which is a small town not that far from Denmark
Our friends have always had a contingency plan for evacuation from their home in case of a fire so it must be a regular thing in parts of Australia although certainly not on this epic scale

Wouldn’t it be lovely for this one day to be considered also for Mostyn Street in Llandudno.

Making The Parade one way (towards the Great Orme?) and Mostyn Street one way in the opposite direction would be a big improvement in traffic management.
