From Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation

17 year old female fell into a disused quarry, banged her head and was witnessed having a fit. Due to the difficult access for the WAST crew and the serious nature of her condition, both the Team and the Coastguard helicopter were tasked. A joint effort between the WAST crew, team members and the Coastguard helicopter enabled her to be winched out of the quarry and flown to hospital
The 17 year-old girl, believed to be local, found herself in trouble at around 8.50pm at a former quarry site off Maenan Road, Llandudno.
She was helped by a paramedic and Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue (OVMRO) volunteers at the scene before being flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd by the coastguard helicopter.

It is understood the girl and two friends had gained access to the fenced off quarry through barbed wire before she slipped and fell, hitting her head.

First on the scene was a Welsh Ambulance Service paramedic.

Rescue 936, the Sikorsky S-92 search and rescue helicopter was drafted in and ferried the girl to Ysbyty Gwynedd in Bangor.

Although her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, the nature of wounds is not yet known.
Emergency services were alerted when she appeared to be having a seizure according to Chris Lloyd of OVMRO.
He said: “The young girl had slipped and banged her head and appeared to be having some kind of fit.
“A paramedic treated her at the scene and Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue volunteers were called to assist with the stretcher.”
A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “An ambulance was called to Maenan Road at 20.53 on Saturday to a report of young girl who had fallen.
“An emergency ambulance and paramedic attended with helicopter support and the female patient was flown to Ysbyty Gwynedd.”

Just to help, "the culprit is described as a heavily built man, aged 50 to 60, with curly brown hair, driving a dark blue pick-up truck.  Anyone with information can call 101.

"Apparently he has been dumping clippings over past two weeks. Has to be living/working local to Colwyn Bay," Sgt Rob Taylor, of the rural crime team, tweeted on Sunday. "

This bloke deserves to be caught.

The body of missing fisherman Brian Hughes has been found.
Mr Hughes, 66, went missing last week after going out fishing in his boat the Susie Mo II but never returned.
A massive search and rescue operation was launched but it was called off after 24 hours.
A fisherman whose body was washed ashore a week after he was reported missing was wearing a life-jacket, it was revealed at the opening of an inquest.
Brian Hughes, 66, of Ronald Avenue, Llandudno Junction, was reported missing on July 14 after leaving Colwyn Bay in his 24ft boat Susie Mo II and his life raft was later found off Penmaenrhos.

The body of the experienced seaman, who was known as 'Bychan', was found near the Sunnyvale Holiday Camp in Kinmel Bay on July 20.
At a short hearing in Ruthin John Gittins, the coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that he was wearing a life vest when found.
Pathologist Dr Andrew Dalton has deferred a decision on the cause of death pending toxicology tests.
The inquest was adjourned to a full hearing, probably in Llandudno in December.    REFDP

Australian couple lose precious photos from their Welsh 'holiday of a lifetime'

An Australian couple who lost the precious photos from their Welsh “holiday of a lifetime” are appealing to the people of North Wales to reunite them with the images.

Beverley Czerniawski and her husband Mitch were devastated to lose their Panasonic Lumix Digital camera on Wednesday, July 1. The camera was lost on either Mostyn Street, Madoc Street or Vaughan Street in Llandudno.

It contained hundreds of images from their month-long trip to Wales.
The couple, who have been married for 35 years, have now returned to their home in Melbourne, but contacted the Daily Post in a last-ditch attempt to get their camera or at least their memory stick back.

Beverley said: “I don’t really care that much about the camera, but the memory stick had four weeks of photos on it, which I would dearly love to get back.
“I’m offering 100 Australian dollars to anyone who can help.

Conwy kids triumph at national Transplant Games

Two youngsters from Conwy scooped up medals at an annual games competition for people whose lives have been changed by having transplants.

Ella Noon, nine, from Llandudno Junction , and 10-year-old Dylan Murphy from Cerrigydrudion , both overcame the odds as small children and have gone on to show that they can still compete with the best of them.

In 2008 Ella received a liver transplant as did Dylan when he was just 11 months old.
