Colin Owen (Ex Llandudno Advertiser)
« on: December 29, 2016, 04:34:42 pm »
In the short period in which several nationally known figures have died, on a more local level I was saddened to learn of the passing of Colin Owen. He was member of the prominent Owen family which once owned the Llandudno Advertiser. When that paper was absorbed into what was still  R E Jones "Weekly News" ownership, Colin became their chief reporter for the Llandudno area. A well-known figure in the town, who walked to his stories, typed up his copy and then sent it on the bus to Conwy. He was a mine of information before the days of computers. Colin eventually took early retirement around the time the Weekly News changed hands and after a couple of years working for a local coach tour company he seemed to retire altogether.
