Llandudno's Passages

yes it is, mind you I lost track of where i was as I was just concentrating on the back streets!

I also found this back alley amazing in that it had it's own street sign!

It's off Bodafon St and leads to the rear of the Alexandra Hotel.

The majority of small alleys and passageways around Llandudno were un-named for years, until one day, the council dicided to give them all names for some reason.

It is amazing , some of the names are really unusual. What for instance is the connection for a back street to be named Arvonia Passage?

This would seem just the place for me to ask about Augusta Passage, in Augusta Street. It has a street sign but the passage itself doesnt appear to exist any more...?

It seems I can answer my own question. Looking at the large scale CCBC plan, it would seem that Augusta Passage ran for a hundred feet or so and connected with the end of Charlton Street. But when was it blocked up? Is it officially closed or just a landowner putting a gate across?

I don't know if there is or was any connection  but there is a large tour coach company based in Llanrug which goes under the name of Arvonia. I have always understood that the family owners took that name from the name of their house

There's also Rathbone Passage.

Maybe Rathbone had a problem with his passage?  ???

from my book 'streets of llandudno'  for Augusta Passage it says 'linking Augusta Street and Charlton mews, in 1990 it was named following a suggestion by Cllr. Phillip Evans.'
