North Wales Car Club is proud to announce the 60th running of the Cambrian Rally - the event having been organised every year since 1956! Based in Llandudno with support from Conwy County Borough Council, Llandudno Town Council, North Wales Honda, Spatone, Peter Lucas Tool Hire and Clwydian Cars, the daytime event will be using the forest areas around Betws-y-Coed and Penmachno with servicing at Glan-y-Gors Kart Circuit near Cerrig-y-Drudion.
The event is the final round of the popular BTRDA (British Trials & Rally Drivers Association) Rally Championship as well as the Welsh National, Clubman and Historic Championships plus the ANWCC (Association of North-Western Car Clubs) Forest Rally Championship and the Old Stager Historic Rally Championship.
To date we have received 150 entries, our maximum permitted being 180, and includes currently five previous winners of the event. Entries have bene received from all corners of the UK as well as some from Europe and one from Australia!
On Thursday 15th we are running a Press Day, using the Marine Drive and that evening there is a special Jubilee Anniversary Dinner at the St George where organisers and competitors from the 60 years will gather to recall special moments on the event.
I am looking for information to compile a book, detailing the 60 years of the event, with many previously untold stories and would welcome anyone's memories of the event, together with photos and event entry lists and results. I'd love to hear from anyone who has ever been involved in North Wales Car Club's major event - my contact number is 07788 995345 - thanks!
Full details are available on
www.cambrianrally.co.uk together with the list of entries to date. Spectator information will be published nearer the time of the event.
