The property on this site  was completely rebuilt in the 1870's  and it isn't on a new road but was originally a main road but what was the building before and what was it called?

In the days of the stagecoach,  this slightly elevated building would have far reaching views and people must have been able to see the dawn breaking from this place

Too easy, Hugo. If its the one I'm thinking of,  there are some allotments just behind this house and a lot of woodland?  ;)

Is it really Dave?    So what was it before 1875 and what was it called?        :)

Well done for getting the location correct but can you answer the question before DaveR does?

So what was it before 1875 and what was it called?

That's a good guess Steve but it's not correct, the present name of that property is similar in a way to the the previous name of it.

That's amazing Cambrian,  you keep getting these questions right.     It was a bit of a stinker and I couldn't even Google it but I found it in Chris Draper's book on Colwyn Bay and did that walk today that he described in his book.

Well done Cambrian, but how did you find the answer?        &well&

Just to add a bit from the book.   The Rising Sun was an ancient Inn serving travellers in the days when it was the main coach road.   Robert Foulkes of the Rising Sun was an interesting character in the 19th century, combining the roles of landlord, tax collector and farrier

The Old Highway is very narrow in places so I don't know what would happen if a coach met another coming in the opposite direction.    It's bad enough now in a small car and especially when people use it for the school run.      ^*^0
