Hugo, you are on the right track but at the wrong end of the road to Sychnant (Cymraeg-"dry stream/failed watercourse"). This building is now used by the public although it was built as a private house over 100 years ago, and was reported that George Bernard Shaw was an occasional visitor in those days. I never knew it was there  as it's only about 300-400 metres from the Town Walls as the crow flies, and I only noticed it while walking on a Public Footpath leading off Sychnant Pass Road on a short walk recently.

 &well&  $good$
Well done Hugo, and also Poppy, it is Bryn Corach situated on Lark Hill ( habitat of a small songbird) and close to the Conwy YHA, (area popular with the younger generation), and close to the boundary ("Gyffin"- Cymraeg) of one of the Three Towns. As I said you wouldn't know it was there unless you were on the Publlc Footpath from Sychnant Road down to St. Agnes Road which takes you down to Gyffin.
We were following a circular walk entitled "Beyond the pale in the parish of Gyffin" from "Welcome to Conwy", published by Carreg Gwalch Guides which starts from Llewellyn's monument in the Square and takes you up through Mount Pleasant to Lark Hill then down to Gyffin and out towards Hendre, then cuts back over Pont Cyffredin, over the Henryd Road and over the Llanrwst Road and up through Conwy Touring Park up onto the area above Benarth woods by the Conwy TV mast. The views were very good last Wednesday, especially coming down towards the Castle above the old Billingtons site. but the batteries in my camera were going flat so no panoramic views from up there!
It's a nice easy walk and is about 4 miles long. I've attached the view up towards Bryn Corach and also the opposite one when I turned round through 180 degrees and faced down towards Conwy, which shows how close to the town it is.

It is but the for sale sign has been cropped from the photo, not that it made any difference to you Dave.

I'll take a 'Yorkie Wild Guess' at the gates to Eirias Park in Colwyn Bay?

You are right about the gates DaveR but they are not in Colwyn Bay.

The gates are in a very prominent part of this town and there are several of them.

It's a good one Hollins but a real toughie.      I've worn out a couple of pairs of shoes looking for these  gates but have no idea where they are.         ?{}?
