The Hydro??
Now, this is a bit tricky because...I don't actually know the answer! I have a suspicion where it might have been and that's the Ballroom in the Winter Gardens/Astra. Can anyone confirm/deny?  ;D

Grand Hotel      Z**

You can see the Cenotaph through the window.

I know who was called Chimp in those days but don't know who was Bray!

Was the ballroom in the Risboro Hotel?

I can't think of a room in The Grand where you could see the Cenotaph from?.... not so close, (the Pavilion would have been in the way too)
I reckon thats a streetlamp out there.
If it was the Cenotaph it would have to be The Marlborough or the Baytree?

But look at the angle - I first thought of the Merrion or Esplanade!   Pity that we don't know the answer.  I've been searching like mad!                     >>>    )*)&

Indeed you have a point sir.  The Esplanade certainly is a candidate... (if it was the Cenotaph, but I aint sure about that at all)

Dave R, please refrain from asking Quiz Questions that you do not know he answer to!   You may drive us all mad.

Instead, kindly confine speculative ones such as this to ..'Ask A Local' ....   there is a process for everything!

I've found some more pics (attached). I do think its the Winter Gardens Ballroom, there is a strong art deco feel to it.

Photo of the Winter Gardens/Odeon auditorium - a similar art deco design:

Call themselves "Sheep Breeders" - not one pair of wellies between them!    L0L  L0L

I'll also add a question:

Who drove their car across the river off Degany when it was frozen over in the Winter of 1962??

Wrong again - a bit (or lot) of parallel thinking is required on that clue!        )*)&

You're somewhere rite with Freeze - but got to get the eggs all together in the same basket then you may find gold!  In fact he could be a relative of yours!

OK so I think I will have to reveal the answer to this one:

We'll start with Eggs, then move on to Freezrite and finally to Clogau Gold, and the answer is
Bill (William) Roberts, affectionately known as Bill Egg, who owned Freezrite and is now the Owner of Clogau Gold having bought the mine in 1989.
