This afternoon I went to this small mine, it's within easy walking distance of where I live, does anyone know where it is? (I don't know it's name though!)

an old wagon inside still

I was going to say the Little Orme but as you've moved then I'll have a pop at Bryn Euryn although I've never seen it there.    ?{}?

Sorry Hugo, it's not Bryn Euryn. Not a million miles away though!

Yes, that's near enough for me, as I said I do not know the mine's name. Does anyone know the history of it?

It's not a mine, it's a limestone quarry. The hole though the hill pictured carried a conveyor belt that carried the rock though to the loading bays on the Mochdre side.

When you go in it, it branches off in at least 3 different directions, next time I go I will have a much more powerful torch. There are also further big holes lower down, it does look like mining on a small scale below the limestone quarry at the top.

I have not been there for several years but it looks like the entrance to the old Llangwstennin Limestone Quarry. There was a loading bank alongside the Penybont Road and this adit was somewhere above that.  The area is now much overgrown. I think this was the last working limestone quarry on the Creuddyn Peninsula.  I can recall many years ago small ex-army lorries trundling around the area bearing the title "Llangwstennin Lime".  They must have produced lime there for sale to local farms.

Sorry my previous reply was drafted before I had seen DaveR's.

At first glance, it is a puzzle as to why there would have been a rail system (you can see the flanges on the truck's wheels) as well as the conveyor - which I do recall seeing the belt from. Perhaps there was a rail system within the quarry which was used to move stone to a crusher plant and the product then discharged to lorries via the conveyor belt through the tunnel. That begs the question as to how the truck comes to be upside down in the tunnel.
