Is it the Pen Y Bryn in the heights Dave? thought id have a look around the other subjects whilst on my weekend off..
You're right, Mike.  $good$ It is the Pen Y Bryn pub in Upper Colwyn Bay, an excellent place for a pint and some great food.

For some time we had been thinking of going there for an evening meal, however, having looked at their menu, I am not very impressed by the vegetarian option, I use the singular as there is only one hot vegetarian dish on the menu.  Not impressed.  The chippy it is.

Nay, nay...and thrice nay.

I'll tell you the answer...the pier is painted both green and blue! If you look closely, the handrails are painted blue whilst the shoulder  (the bit of wood that the handrail sits on) is painted green. As to why that is...the Pier was painted green/white up until sometime in the late 1960s, when the now familiar blue/white colour scheme was adopted. Obviously, the changeover was a gradual process!  I've always thought maroon/cream would be a great colour scheme for the pier but since they seem unable to paint it at all due to having got rid of all the maintenance staff, maybe I'm being a bit optimistic...  :-X

He also designed many of the buildings in Colwyn Bay itself, including the building that is now Peacocks in Station Road compete with stone pharaohs at first floor level. A very talented architect, the firm still exists today but is now longer based in the area.

The Elwy Road housing scheme in Rhos was so successful that architects came from around the world to inspect it, including one of the greatest of them all, Frank Lloyd Wright.

It's certainly a foundation stone ceremony...but this is for a public facility in Colwyn Bay that is still in regular use today.
