Was it the old man-powered lifeboat with the crew manning the oars?
I'm afraid not. A small clue would be that the Lifeboat was the 'Thomas and Annie Wade Richards'.

I seem to think that it is on Llandudno Promenade.   But, then again, I could be wrong! (again)  L0L

Ah!  I knew it was somewhere sort of obvious!   I think we have had it before, maybe on an old Forum.    :D

It's on the top of the Great Orme.

It is, on top of the summit O/S marker.

It was a gift from the Automobile Association.

All the employees of the same company in the first photo were also members of the Fire Brigade?

Good attempt Dave - it's actually one person. The photo's are some 20 years apart.

The top photo was taken in 1900 and shows local builder Edward Thorp (with bowler hat) and his workmen.

The bottom photo circa 1880 shows Mr Thorp (standing first left behind horse) when he was the Lieutennant in charge of Llandudno's Volunteer Fire Brigade.

Suppose I could squeeze another question from this.....

Where was Edward Thorp's builders yard (pictured here) located in Llandudno?
