Some of the wreck can still be seen at low Spring tides - but - sorry you are not correct.  I thought that the Rhosneigr would be one of the first answers.  Try again   ££$

The Paddle Steamer Viceroy, which was re-named the Rhos Colwyn

Builders: DW Henderson & Co 1875

Propulsion type: Paddle, diagonal

Owners: Capt. A Williamson, Glasgow & South Western Railway, W Horton.

Service dates: 1875 - 1911

Tonnage: Gross 236

Originally forming part of the "Turkish" fleet of steamers owned by Capt Alexander Williamson, Viceroy was sold in 1891 with the rest of the fleet to the G&SWR for whom Capt Williamson's son was the Marine Superintendent. Viceroy was a useful boat and whilst she was given more powerful engines than her fleet mate Sultan, she was no faster. Originally, Viceroy sported a raised quarter deck but was converted into the saloon steamer shown above, shortly before she joined the G&SWR. She was reboilered twice and also lengthened by 14 feet during her career. At the end of the 1906 season she was to be sold for use in "southern waters", appearing as Rhos Colwyn in 1907 for Mr W Horton. She operated between Rhyl, Rhos and Llandudno, surviving until 1911 when she was sold for breaking up.

Yes I suppose they did.  I saw the number in the bottom corner of the photo and then looking at your walk I noticed similar numbers so I worked out that it was taken before or as you went up to Marine Drive.  Llys Helig was just a guess, as was the house name.  As Brucie would say, "Good game, good game!"

Ok  Yorkie, here's a question without pictures and numbers:-

In Colwyn Bay how many roads have "streets" in their name.  eg Mostyn Street, Gloddaeth Street etc etc

One point for guessing the number of roads that have Street in their name and

a big Bonus point if you can name every Street.

You must be thinking of Ivy Street.    That is the only one, mentioned in Graham Robert's book Colwyn Bay Through Time.

Can't catch me that easily!     D)

Well done Yorkie,  Colwyn Bay council  passed a resolution in the very early 1900's not to call roads "Streets"  so Ivy Street is the only one.
It's proving hard to out Fox you.
