This is a photo of John & Mary Knowles. They lived in Llandudno in 1972. What was unusual about them?

They weren't called Roberts?  or Thomas or Hughes? .... that makes them unusual....

What was unusual about them was where they lived..... a dank, cold, unsafe structure.

Seems like nothing changes for the Knowles family. L0L

Thanks Dave!

Does that mean I should be re-christened?   How about Fester Yr Ogof?

They would have saved a fortune in rent and council tax,  enough to buy those expensive coats!

It's Ogof Arth or Bears Cave and where the township of Gogarth derived it's name from.

It's been lived in by different people for some time.

A Llandudno troglodyte, John Stephens claimed to have lived in the cave for fourteen years, when he was interviewed by a newspaper reporter in 1862.

Another resident, Gwilym Hughes, lived in the cave for a number of years, before he was evicted by the Council and then housed in one of their flats.

I remember seeing Mr John Knowles around town.
