If it were St George it would then possibly lead one to believe that the subject of the question and also the resultant answer could be the St George Hotel.

This I will humbly submit to the assembled Jury in the hope that I shall be aquitted and proved correct!

Thank you DaveR!     $thanx$

I thought it was a coffin at first and was going to say Em the Crem a local undertaker, but the firm makes snooker tables so I'll have a pot at Fred Davis,   ???

And I reckon you are right Hugo.   Fred and his Brother Joe both used to play at Burrough and Watts Hall in Soho Square.  It was a small venue with just the one table and a few rows of seating round the outside.   It would seem that it is not there (or used) nowadays.   Many a fine game of Snooker and also Billiards were played there and quite a few watched by myself and friends when we were off duty.  And sometimes the odd sneaky peek when we were!!!   ;D
