was it the one next to telefusion  where the entrance to the vic centre is
Well done, Norman, you've got it. I have a photo from the 1960s that shows it, there was a bank next door where Animal is now

Hello does anyone have any info on Ashworths Cafe that was next door to Cabin Cafe before this bank. Thanks

If you're not going for a walk on the West shore this weekend then here's a short quiz for you.

A very easy one for Thursday afternoon.      Where would you see this feature?

Well done Meleri,  I thought that you would get that as it's so near to Watson's Bistro

I saw this plaque on the wall by Watson's Bistro in Conwy today and had a good look at it as I haven't seen it before.

I'm wondering if it is correct or not.    Has anyone got any ideas about whether it is correct or not and say if they can spot anything on the plaque

A couple of things occur to me Hugo.  Monmouthshire is missing but like the "v" in Sir Gaernarvon, these were how things were when the plaque was carved.  I don't think Monmouthshire officially became part of Wales until the passing of the Local Government 1972 previously it was just tagged on.

Yes, Cambrian.

Wales and Monmouth seems to ring a bell.

There are more but I'm not certain if I'm being too pedantic or not and not that confident with my Welsh either

You are correct about Monmouth  Cambrian.     An anomaly in the Act of Union omitted Monmouth but then Wales was just considered to be part of the Kingdom of England anyway.  In school we were always taught about the 13 counties of Wales but told that they were referred to legally as Wales and Monmouthshire

Apart from Monmouth and the "v" in Caernarfonshire there are a number of other things that I'm not certain are correct.    It's a lovely plaque and I don't know when it was carved but once I spotted the "v" I seemed to find a few more, see if you agree on the 3 others

There's no accent mark over the "o" in "Fon".  Breconshire was actually Brecknockshire although the former term may have been used as verbal "shorthand". Personally, I would say that Forgannwc should be Forgannwg.  I wonder if these are the same as your three Hugo ?

You are correct about the "0" in Fon  and there should be a tor bach or circumflex above the letter O

Another one is Sir Fflint,   should that be Sir Y Fflint?      That's how the County Council refer to it.     The strange thing is that the correct Welsh names for both Fflint and Rhyl  are Y Fflint and  Y Rhyl but the Y  seems to have been dropped along the way

Now the other one I'm not sure about and can guess at why the word has been mutated but I am not sure if it is grammatically correct due to my lack of Welsh
Gymraeg a Saesneg   shouldn't that be Cymraeg a Saesneg?
