My friend Derek Williams wrote a book about the shed after working on the railways for a number of years. It's called "The Men of 7A and 6G Loco Shed: Llandudno Junction 1920s Till 1966" (Paperback)

Llandudno Pier in the 1960s - what big difference is there between the pier in that photo and the one we see today?

The first stall has been moved further down the pier and an additional stall put near to the right of the gates.  May be other things also.

It depends what you call BIG Dave?  Loads of differences.
You see Nemesis is correct...The boats being unable to dock is a big BIG deal,  but also on the 1960's picture there are no kiosks, businesses, storerooms, slides, and rides on the right hand side as you go through those gates.

I reckon that Mick Edwards, The Music Man.....''As heard on the radio,   appearing here regular!''   (always tickles me that)  Might consider it a big difference that his kiosk isn't there?    L0L L0L L0L

No lamposts

I thought that too, but having a look this afternoon the posts are old and if you zoom into the postcard you can just see them.

The lamposts in the middle are modern and were removed a couple of years ago as they couldn't cope with the harsh marine environment - £2000 each down the drain there!

Well, no-one's got the answer. The fundamental difference is that the pier was painted a different colour back then - green/silver instead of the blue/white used today!

One can hardly tell that on your photograph as the detail of the rails are so small.  Also colour reproduction can be different on different PC's.      >>>

What is the name of the Morris Dancing Group strutting their stuff at Rhos-on-Sea and Llandudno?
