Riddles
« on: December 14, 2010, 08:56:57 pm »
This doesent really fit in Quizs. So Ive made a new topic. I had better tell you all that I have made this up myself----so don't laugh'

A man is looking out of a window in a building in the 3 towns area. Outside he sees another man holding up an enormous mirror, reflecting the building he is in, down to every last detail. Five minutes later the man and mirror have gone. But-------he can still see the reflected picture. Where is the building?      I wouldnt mind betting who will get this right, probably in about 5 minutes  Mike

Well, 13 members have viewed but no takers. So, limit the area.  Its in the centre of Colwyn Bay.  (By the way, moderators are allowed to post!!)

Safe to say this topic is not setting the forum alight. 20 viewers. No takers.  So, in a last attempt, the man is standing in a shop type building, right in the centre of Colwyn Bay.

I thought of someone living opposite the new Welsh Assembly building which is mostly glass, but that's wrong.

Maybe he is opposite an Estate Agents and can see details of the property on show?????? Z**

Other than that my lateral thinking cap has failed me.   Nice one Mike, a bit of a stymie and no par score on this hole!    L0L

Thanks for your response Yorkie. I.m off out now with my camera to take two photos which I will put on here tonight to answer the  riddle. That is if the moderators let it be shown.  LOL  because one of them, well, I would have bet a fiver against anyone he would have got the answer straight away.

I was in Colwyn Bay this afternoon and was looking out for the building or someone taking photos but still no idea. ???
I then drove out of Penrhyn Road and was directed to take a left turn by a Policewoman directing traffic. In fact there were lots of Police in Conway Road directing traffic and there were crowds of people standing on the pavements watching what was going on.
Perhaps Mike is having an escort into town?    Just heard the Police sirens so something is happening down in the Bay.
Can't wait for all to be revealed tonight Mike.             ?{}?

Lateral thinking has pricked me, and I think that the building is on the opposite side of the road to the reflected image, which appears to succinctly answer your question!      )*)&

Well, Hugo, I don't know anything about the Police activity, "Its nothing to do with me, honest gov"    But, you did drive right through the site, its half way up or down Penrhyn Road i.e. on both sides. I couldnt take the photos, nothing to do with the Police, it was just parked vans in the way. So, its Santander the Bank. Two branches  directly opposite each other, both identical decour, two identical cash machines, identical posters advertising all the marvelious financial schemes positioned in identical spots in the windows  identical doors. Yorkie, you are stretching my brain a bit, I'm not too sure I understand what you write. But  it wasent what I had in mind.  Mike

But were the cars double parked by the banks Mike?      They usually are and it can be a pain at times but next time I'm there I'll take more notice of the buildings!

My logic circuits are being overloaded by Mike's riddle. Surely if you looked out of the building at a mirror, then the image you were looking at would be reversed and would, therefore, look totally different when the mirror was removed, not identical?  :rage: :-X

Mike......bad news...

Exactly my thoughts Dave, but didn't like to say anything as the one on the other side could have been set up as the opposite and as a "mirror" image!     ZXZ

Now - THAT'S the riddle?                    _))*

At that point your brain might just explode :-)))

Another Riddle?

For this one has to assume that the World is a perfect sphere of 24,000 miles circumference.

A man (or it could be a woman) lays a piece of string measuring 24,000 miles all the way round the equator.
He then decides that he would like the string to be half an inch above ground level for all of the 24,000 miles.
How much extra string would he need?
An estimate will be sufficient - the nearest to within a limit set by me will get 5 Brownie Points.
