LOOK: Nostalgic pictures show fantastic North Wales carnivals

From a beautiful swan float at the 1949 Llandudno Carnival to a football-themed float at Capelulo Carnival in 1997, these great old pictures capture the pomp and pageantry of North Wales carnivals in the 20th century.
You can see carnival queens being crowned at Benllech, Glan Conwy and Caernarfon .
There are also some interesting outfits at the carnivals in Mold , Conwy, Deiniolen and Pwllheli.
So have a look through our picture gallery and see if you can spot any friends and family, or maybe even yourself!

A very haunting and surreal picture Dave!

On the subject of Spooky, please pass my congratulations to those who sculpted the twin pumpkins in your house last night.
As I passed, I was suitably impressed, and frightened!!

LOOK: Nostalgic pictures show North Wales schooldays from decades past

As pupils from North Wales prepare to go back to school after the half-term holidays, here at the Daily Post we decided to have a look at nostalgic schooldays from yesteryear.
From the 1920s up until as recently as 1996, these pictures encapsulate the changing face of the region's schools

Apologies if this is the wrong thread, couldn't make up my mind which one to use. We were at South Stack today and it felt like it was a summer's day,(see pics), the visibility was excellent and there were kayakers going round the lighthouse island, and all this just 5 weeks from Christmas! The only clue that it wasn't spring/summer was that there were no birds on the cliffs. There were people paddling at Tre-arddur Bay, and an ice-cream van in attendance as well. We also passed the bench on the cliffs leading to Ellin's Tower that Hugo featured in a quiz question 2 years ago when it was new and it looked like it had been there for years, it was very weathered.

Great photos Gwynant, I'm glad that you were able to get out on a nice day like today.   Those paths near that bench are quite precarious and very near to the edge of those high cliffs, I hope people don't let their dogs off the lead on that stretch of the path as I dread to fear what could happen.
