LOOK: Amazing Denbighshire images from 1890-1900 held in US Library of Congress
From Denbigh Castle to Rhyl's beaches, these beautiful, romantic old pictures give a snapshot of Denbighshire from a simpler age.

Bizarrely, the remarkable "photochrom" pictures have not been found in Wales, instead part of a set held at the US Library of Congress, in Washington.

Originally published by the Detroit Publishing Company and mostly dating back to the end of the 19th Century, they were created by image-makers fascinated by the Wales' castles and sweeping landscapes.

The collection is part of a wider archive of historic “photochrom” pictures bought by the Library of Congress that are being published for their historic and artistic merit.

They were created through a painstaking process where a picture would start life as a black and white negative and each new colour would be added using a different asphalt-coated lithographic stone.

The result is a cross between a photograph and a painting that depicts famous Denbighshire towns, landscapes and buildings in a unique way.

Scroll through the gallery above and continue to check back as the Daily Post brings you a collection of these images from each of North Wales' counties.

Linked from C.B. thread today re Parisian tree lined streets..

An absolutely incredible image from Airpano (2010). They shoot 360 degree panoramas of great cultural and natural wonders of the world. This starburst image captures Paris with its tree-lined boulevards radiating from the Arc de Triomphe. An image that encapsulates the phrase, All roads lead to Paris, and reinforces Paris as a City of Trees, in addition to its more famous moniker as the City of Lights. Image: Air Pano

After finding the above image, I Googled "Airpano" well it impressed me, and I would surprised, if you don't feel the same, if you cannot travel but, would like to see some amazing images of the world, try this....

AirPano is a non-for-profit project focused on high-resolution spherical panoramas shot from a bird’s eye view. Being the largest resource for 360° aerial panoramas in the world – by geographical coverage, number of aerial photographs, and artistic and technical quality of the images, AirPano has already photographed over two hundred most interesting locations on our planet. There are nearly two thousand 360° panoramas on our website at the moment.

I think this is a must view..     http://www.airpano.com/

Bringing the front line to UK streets
As British troops prepare to leave Afghanistan, their experiences there are being reflected in a series of striking photographs posted on billboards across the UK.
