is that the one Guy Fox used?

From 1943, a SIGSALY code-scrambling encrypted telephone was installed in the basement of Selfridges, Oxford Street connected to a similar terminal in the Pentagon building.   This enabled Churchill to speak securely with American President Roosevelt in Washington, with the first conference taking place on 15 July 1943.

If it was good enough for Churchill it should be good enough for DaveR!   :D

DaveR, I have just seen your photo of the Chester clock on your photography blog and I am wondering was this the final gasp of the wonder camera before its sad demise?

Indeed it was, although I was on the bit overlooking the Amphiteatre when I dropped it.  :(

Thank you!

We were in Chester at the weekend and I couldn't resist taking this photo of the Steam Mill, such a fantastic looking building:

All the times I have been to Chester and I don't remember having seen that building before. Great photo.

There are some interesting photos on this BBC link including a good one of Llandudno taken by Marcus of Deganwy. Well done!

The photo of the beach triggered a memory of when we evacuated to Newborough, after a storm all the villagers went to the beach which was covered with oranges, they were a bit salty but I think my mother made some jam or marmalade with them.   ;D

DaveR, if you are there and can remember, how do I set the wonder camera to take a photo automatically on a time lapse?
Doesn't sound very good trying to take a photo of myself but there is a good reason!
Thanks, H.

Yes, it's pretty straightforward. Switch camera on as usual, then press the left hand side of the little wheel on the back of the camera. The display should change to show Drive Mode - press the down part of the Wheel to go through the options and select 'Self Portrait - One Person'. When you press the shutter button, there's a 10 second pause, the red light flashes three times and it take the photo. Job done.

Don't forget to put it back on 'Single Shooting' when you are done.

One problem with modern cameras is the 'wealth' of things you can do with them, which has often made locating what you want to do near impossible. They're getting better, however. My Canon SX50 has the best system so far of all of them, although it means I'm often accidentally switching the shutter delay on.  Great fun
