That's the A4 locomotive - the actual one that still holds the world speed record for a steam loco!

We heard they'd get all of them together - for the first (and probably last) time, so we spent a few days in York and the Railway museum there.  Unfortunately, we chose the week when the heatwave reached its zenith and the outside temps exceeded 28C.  Uncomfortable...

It was more of a liquid lunch, to be honest  :-[  but the Stables Restaurant was very pleasant, I believe it has a good reputation.

A great place Aldeburgh with some quirky buildings which your photos show well.
I have a collection of miniature buildings made by Devonmoor Pottery and one of them is Moot Hall as shown in your last picture.

Aldeburgh... Thanks to Hollins for the nice comment. I must say we were impressed with the town and my wife enjoyed fish and chips
from a chippie recommended by Rick Stein apparantly. The food was excellent!

Yes, that's the redoubtable Graham Evans in the video, fount of all knowledge for things Denbigh related. There's no longer any security at Denbigh Hospital.

I have watched that video. it is so creepy, like a horror movie, those footsteps and the crows!
DaveR, I don't know how you could go in and for all that time. Were you on your own?
Whatever might they have been doing in that room called "Adult Industrial Therapy Unit?" It doesn't bear thinking about. How could they ever have needed such a huge place?
I'm going to have nightmares tonight.

It is quite an eerie but peaceful place. I've been round several times, including once on my own. I've never found such places creepy, being honest. What I found touching was some of the individual cells/bedrooms, that had been decorated with patterned wallpaper etc in order to give a more homely feel for the patient (see attached photo).

There's a nice video here, that shows an aerial view of the buildings and how extensive they were.

Industrial Therapy is where the patients would perform simple product assembly jobs for outside companies, both to give them something to do and because the repetitive nature of the work had a soothing effect apparently.
