I don't know if DaveR still reads this forum but if you do Dave, Gwrych Castle are asking for photos of it and are featuring some on their Instagram page which is excellent.
I have been having a look through the old pages on the photography section of this forum and there are some great ones of the castle.

THIS INCREDIBLE clear photograph of a snow-capped Snowdon was taken from Ireland, 140 kilometres away.

Niall O'Carroll captured the exceptional photograph on January 12 at about 2.30pm. The keen photographer took the snap from the Ben of Howth, the summit of a large peninsula in suburban North Dublin, which is a popular scenic area.

It is also the closest area of land to North Wales anywhere in Dublin.

Niall, 30, said: "It was quite a dull afternoon but I noticed the views were very clear to the East and North of Dublin, which is usually ideal conditions to capture distant shots. Living around 20 minutes away I cycled up to this location, camera in tow, to check out the views.

Once when on the Great Orme, I thought I could see Ireland, does anyone know if that is possible?

Brian,  I live on Colwyn Heights and can certainly see Northern Ireland from my house..    I don't know about Llandudno as I've never seen it from the Great Orme but it may be possible.
If you are on the Orme and looking due North you can see the Isle of Man.  Northern Ireland would be N N West I would guess.    Anglesey would prevent you getting a view of Southern Ireland though

From the heights Hugo, you can also see the Lakes, some Scottish mountains and Ireland.

To calculate how far you can see you simply multiply your height above mean sea level by 1.17 times the square root of that height, and the answer gives the distance you can see in nautical miles.

For example, let's say you are at the top of Walton-on-Naze Navigation Tower, which is 81 ft high, and the cliff at that point is 75 feet high, then you are 156 feet above sea level.

The formula to calculate distance to the horizon is:
1.17 x  √156 = Distance in nautical miles.

To see what features you can see, you only need to add the height of the object to your own height above sea level.

In the last 25 years from the top of the Great Orme, I have twice been able to see Slieve Muck (2211ft) which is 105 miles away and is located to the East of Newry but it takes a very special day to do it.

The most stunning shots from the Nature TTL Photographer of the Year Awards

Thanks to coronavirus lockdown restrictions, it hasn’t been a bumper year for photography.

With restrictions on movement both nationally and internationally, most cameras have been limited to selfies and the living room window, but a few brave souls still managed to get out enough to snap some stunning shots.

The Nature TTL Photographer Of The Year Awards celebrate the very best in nature photography, and this year more than 8,000 images competed for the £1,500 grand prize, in categories ranging from animal portraits to underwater and landscape.

The 'insane' light show in sea off Anglesey - and how to see this incredible natural phenomenon
The best displays are at Penmon- but you'll have to be patient, as photographer Llion Griffiths discovered

After a three-year wait, and plenty of sleepless nights, a photographer finally got the shots he was looking for - and they left him absolutely stunned.

Llion Griffiths, 46, said views of the sea off Anglesey glowing green and blue was the “most phenomenal thing" he had ever seen.
