Super X! gee, what was that, early 90's? Top piece of kit that at the time, but by today's standards, a bit of a bore. The size of the data cartridges that the attendant installed in that thing were humongous, easily a foot long. Technology today, kid's don't know they're born!

I did a couple of the super x adventurers, white water rapids, some supersonic aircraft or other, a sportsbike one, but the rollercoaster one could never quite cut it when it went upside down! :S Hmmm... oh well, use your imagination I guess.

I used to run the Super X Simulator on the odd day. Each ride has its own laser disc, together with some sort of data cartridge to supply the information for the hydraulics. The Downhill skiing was by far the most popular ride, most of the others were pretty tame.

The Super X is to the right in this pic, it was located on the site of the old Cambria Restaurant outdoor seating area:

From the outside it appeared that it was possibly an expensive way of getting a severe bout of Mal de Mare!    ZXZ

Thanks both.  :)

Andy - there's all sorts of mooring type stuff scattered around, it is close to this place - the HQ of the Conwy Mooring Company;

That place looks like it could do with a spring clean.

Great depth of field though.

This long abandoned stone built cottage is deep in the forest on the path up to Llyn Elsi from Betws Y Coed. Probably a smallholding once, when this was open moorland before the mighty Gwydir Forest was planted in 1921. It was beautifully built but time is taking its toll and more walls will surely collapse soon. Once a very peaceful place to live.

I'd love to go and see that, it looks like a fairy tale house.

There are many similar abandoned houses in the Gwydir Forest, together with stone walls running everywhere. Hard to believe now that it was once all open land.

What was the purpose of planting the forest Dave?

What was the purpose of planting the forest Dave?
After World War One, it was realised that there was a big shortage of suitable timber in the UK, so the Forestry Commission was set up to plant new forests to prevent shortages occurring in the future. Conifers were planted as they need between only 20-40 years to reach the size needed for felling. It's difficult to imagine the area around Betws Y Coed as being anything other than heavily forested now.

Gwydir Forest as a whole is growing at the rate of 125 tons a day!
