I saw this fine looking Land Rover Defender in Haulfre Gardens yesterday.      What I noticed first of all were the tyres, they were massive but I didn't take notice of the size of them unfortunately.
It's no use me saving up for one as I couldn't afford the tyres let alone the car     ;D

Cooper Discoverer STT Pro tyres - googled that and found the price is around the £275 mark (per tyre).

I thought the tyres on my car were expensive - £208 I paid for one recently that punctured the side wall - Continentals on 20" wheels!

DVLA reveals the 10 most stolen cars of 2021 - and one brand dominates the list
One car brand topped the list, with seven of its models on the list
I'm glad that my two cars are not on that list, perhaps even the thieves need a bit more street cred?         ;D

The RAC has accused petrol retailers of ripping off motorists by refusing to pass on wholesale price cuts.

The motoring organisation said unleaded petrol fell by 2p a litre, but should have come down by 12p.

It estimated drivers were overcharged by £5m a day in December as retailers made an average of 16p a litre on petrol instead of the normal 6p.

The Petrol Retailers Association objected, saying drivers were likely to have benefited more than that.

"December was a rotten month for drivers as they were taken advantage of by retailers," said the RAC's fuel spokesman, Simon Williams.

In the past, he said, retailers had always reduced pump prices when wholesale prices dropped.

"This time they've stood strong, taking advantage of all the media talk about 'higher energy prices' and banked on the oil price rising again and catching up with their artificially inflated prices, which it has now done," Mr Williams said.

Seen a few like that ... it amazes me how they constructed the road in the first place.  I think I'd find another route despite what the voice in the dashboard tells me!

I used to be in a pop group called the Broken Sat Navs ... we didn't get anywhere.

Several new rules come into place on January 29, with all UK drivers at risk of getting a £200 fixed penalty notice and six points on their licence.

It includes the tightening of mobile phone laws - it is already illegal to text or call using a hand-held phone while driving, but that doesn't seem to be stopping the terrible driving habit many of us have.

Under the latest changes to the Highway Code, the law will also ban drivers from scrolling through playlists, playing games or taking photos and videos.

Although drivers can still able to use a “hands-free” device when driving, however, they must be driving responsibly - this includes a sat-nav.

This changed follow new research which estimated 1.79 million motorists use their mobile while on the motorway, reports the Express.

Cameras which monitor mobile phone use while driving have been installed on a trail basis on motorways already.

One camera alone caught a terrifying 15,000 drivers using their mobile phones while at the wheel - and don't think driving faster means the camera won't get a clear image of you, the latest technology has the ability to capture clear images at up to 185mph, in any weather conditions.

The trial estimated that one in 200 drivers use their phone while driving on the motorway.
By using Artificial Intelligence (AI) it means photographs will be taken of all drivers so the rule-breakers can be automatically detected.

Past research from GoCompare found that harsher penalties had shown a reduction in convictions.

A warning has been issued to all petrol and diesel drivers as they’re set to be penalised under new car tax rules.

From April 11, Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates are set to rise for everyone in the UK.

VED rates for vehicles that produce over 255 g/km of CO2 pollution will rise to £2,365 - a massive £120 increase from the current 2021 rate.

MORE Conwy drivers are going green, according to figures showing a surge in electric vehicle registrations.

Motorists turning their backs on petrol and diesel contributed to a 40 per cent national rise in the number of newly registered ultra-low emission vehicles (ULEVs) last year.

The RAC said the rise proves an "electric revolution" is underway across the UK – but the Green Party says more needs to be done to ensure a switch to electric motoring is sustainable long-term.

Department for Transport data shows 487 ULEVs were licensed to addresses in Conwy as of September – a 91 per cent increase from 255 a year earlier.

Of those, 137 (28 per cent) were registered to companies based in the area, while 350 were privately owned.

The figures show 83,000 ULEVs made up 15 per cent of all new registrations nationally between July and September last year, when registrations of petrol and diesel cars fell by 41 per cent and 66 per cent respectively.

About 645,000 ULEVs were registered across the UK as of September – up from 373,000 the year before.
