Sorry Hugo....too many pills, still addling my brain ! According to the web-site the actual run is sold out, but that doesn't stop the spectators ! There should be plenty there.

Steve H...... We will be there hopefully, but as we are classed a Metro we shall not be an actual entry. 'Rosie' will be there with us, so if you see us sitting in her do come and have a word. I shall probably manage to potter for a bit, but will be people watching with the dog in the car ! Hope to see you. $good$

Revealed: The North Wales speed cameras that make the most cash
In the last two years, the penalties paid could add up to around £14m across all the speed traps in the region

https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/speed-cameras-north-wales-fines-17507128

Unfortunately the North Wales Police do not have the Vulcan style cameras that detect such things as dangerous drivers such as those driving while using a hand held mobile phone.    The cameras they have  only detect vehicles that exceed the speed limit in certain areas.     Driving ability does not even enter the equation.      If the speed limit is say 70 mph then that is the maximum amount of speed you can do without breaking the law.      You don't have to do  70 mph you can always do less than that if you want to.
Lawbreakers know what to expect if they exceed the speed limit so the best thing to do is not to break the lw in the first place

The new rules which mean private parking companies can no longer fine motorists unfairly
Motorists who accidentally key in the wrong registration number when buying a parking ticket can no longer be fined £100

The new rules have been introduced by the British Parking Association (BPA) that represents private firms to write-off fines when honest mistakes happen.
They came into effect on Monday, January 6.

However, the revised code will not apply to motorists fined before that time.       cont.   https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/new-rules-mean-private-parking-17532302

170 ultra-low emission vehicles were licensed in Conwy at the end of September.

Drivers are getting on board the green revolution in Conwy with a big rise in electric vehicles, the latest figures reveal.

But with the eco-friendly motors still making up a small share of the market, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders has called for measures to drive up their use.

Department for Transport statistics show that 170 ultra-low emission vehicles were licensed in Conwy at the end of September – 26% more than at the same point a year earlier.     cont   https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/18151416.170-ultra-low-emission-vehicles-licensed-conwy-end-september/

The horrific moment biker is catapulted into the air in head-on crash - and why police want you to see it
The motorcyclist was hit by a driver travelling at 70mph on the wrong side of the road.

The biker suffered a broken back, a broken sternum and a broken wrist, and his Suzuki K7 sports bike was completely destroyed.
"The offending driver had no previous driving points or convictions, but on this occasion he demonstrated an exceptional lack of judgement.

"Thankfully, the motorcyclist was wearing a full leather air bag suit  https://www.rideapart.com/articles/245118/how-it-works-modern-airbag-suits/ which activated and inflated as he was propelled off his bike.

"Without it, in a collision at this speed, he would most likely have died."

That motorcyclist was extremely lucky to survive that crash and thank goodness that he was wearing that air bag suit.    I didn't know that such a thing existed but it just shows you how much protection a biker needs when they are out on the road

Indeed. And there will be some who will make excuses for the car driver - of that we can be sure.

And especially for Hugo...........

NORTH Wales Police has now taken ‘devolved powers’ from the DVLA that allows them to seize any untaxed vehicle from the roadside.

The law states that if a vehicle is untaxed it should be registered with a Statutory Off Road Notification (SORN), and kept on private property.

If a vehicle is reported or discovered through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) as having no vehicle tax, North Wales Police can now remove it.
And the force's Roads Policing Unit used the new powers for the first time as officers seized a car in Wrexham on Thursday.

While the vast majority of vehicles on the road are taxed correctly, North Wales Police are committed to taking action against those who break the law by not paying their tax.

Sergeant Meurig Jones of the North Wales Police Roads Policing Unit said: “In reality, these devolved powers are an extension to the armoury that we already have available to us to remove unlawful vehicles from our roads. We have always been able to remove vehicles with no insurance or being driven by persons otherwise than in accordance with their licence. Now we can add untaxed vehicles to the list.

“This may seem low level compared to other types of crime that officers deal with, however, we are told time and time again that it’s a frustration for the communities where these cars are parked.

“By picking up on these sorts of crimes our officers and staff are able to better prevent and detect further criminality. If you don’t adhere to the laws of the road with a roadworthy vehicle, have insurance or tax then you simply should not be driving in a public place.
“Our message is straightforward – tax it or lose it.”

If you believe that a vehicle does not have tax, you can use this link to check on the DVLA website, you can also use the link to report vehicles without tax direct to the DVLA

If you believe a vehicle is being used on the road illegally contact a member of your local policing team dial 101 – giving as much details as you can such as vehicle make, registration and name of driver(s)                ref Pioneer

I suspect 'about time' is the appropriate sentiment.

Thanks very much Steve for posting that information about those devolved powers that have been granted to the Police, there is nothing worse than seeing these offenders drive around the area openly avoiding paying road tax or not having a valid MOT

Now back to reality.    Previously out of date road tax was reported  to the DVLA who "allegedly" followed the report up but I know that as an enforcement recovery office they are not fit for purpose
Outstanding MOT's have always been dealt with by the Police and the DVLA has no power when it comes to enforcing the MOT's

The same as it is now if you wanted to report an out of date MOT to the Police then people still had to dial 101,   However someone I know did this and was told by the Police operator that " they were not interested in out of date MOT's unless the MOT was more than three months out of date"

We'll have to wait and see how effective this new devolved power will be as the person I keep seeing still has no road tax or MOT on his vehicle.     The DVLA website incidentally knows from day one when the tax or MOT has expired so the follow up shouldn't be that difficult

MORE THAN two hundred mini coopers gathered on The Promenade in Llandudno recently.

Held by the Wirral minis club on January 12, the event welcomed all variants of the classic vehicle to the town on what was rainy but successful day according to organisers.  cont photos    https://www.northwalespioneer.co.uk/news/18182428.two-hundred-minis-take-llandudno/

Asda and Sainsbury's are reducing the price of petrol and diesel after weeks of rising prices.

Drivers have seen prices creep up over the last two months - rising from 117.7p per litre on unleaded in mid-December at Asda to 124.7p per litre this week.
But today the supermarket giant said all its 322 petrol stations will see a price cut by up to 3p per litre across both unleaded and on diesel.
This move is expected to trigger reductions from the other supermarket giants like Tesco
