Health and safety
After doing exactly the same job for 23 years, it has suddenly been deemed that I need to wear safety boots and if I turn up to work without them I will be sent home without pay.
There has never been an accident/near miss and it is most unlikely that there ever will be.

and another niggle
Why do people call health and safety 'elf and safety'

Football talk

Why is it that nearly every bloke you meet assumes you like football and wants to talk about it?

and when you say you don't like football

why do they always follow it up with 'What sport do you like then ?'

grrr. I don't like any sport full stop, leave me alone, go away and talk your small talk with somebody else grrr

Yep football, can't stand it. I tell yer what gets me though, blokes bang on about women who; when in an argument remember everything from the year dot, rendering the poor bloke unable to defend himself from the verbal fact barage as more often than not, said man has the memory span of a gnat.  However you ask him who scored the first goal in the 1976 Outer Mongolian friendly with Rhyl and not only will he give you the correct answer, he'll also tell you who played in what position and what the linesman had for breakfast!!

Even though I think football is fantastic, I can identify with what you are saying.
There is so much snobbery around football knowledge, (as there is with the Welsh language) ... so if I momentarily forget who came 3rd in the 1990 World Cup, then I know NOTHING in the eyes of the person who does,

My wife knows everything, genuinly (don't tell her I said so)....and remembers the most peevish, trivial arguements to wrong-foot me from millions of years ago.

This is not a sexist comment (before I get moderated again) ... its a statement of fact, women remember the most incredible but damning facts.

Me?  I just know trivia.... and not enough of it to win a quiz!
