Nice to see the Pump house gets a chance to survive....

Three years after starting a one man (and his van) home improvements firm Luke Pearce is creating a state-of-the-art showroom in a formerly rundown historic building that he knew from his childhood.

My expertise consisted of using a big hammer and nails, with the end result "rustic", however I do appreciate the skill and patience of others, an excellent piece of work, and helping a good cause to boot.

One-way promenade plan for top North Wales seaside resort sparks debate
Some residents argue the scheme is a 'waste of money' - but business owners say they will give the prom a 'new lease of life'

The main promenade road at a top North Wales resort will be made one-way as part of a multi-million pound waterfront development - but some are not happy about it.

Residents have taken to Facebook to air their concerns regarding the developments with some saying the scheme is 'a waste of money' and will cause 'major traffic issues within the area'.

Meanwhile, business owners praised the planned upgrades, saying they are set to bring the promenade 'a new lease of life'.

Feedback is currently being invited on the plans to reduced the Rhos on Sea promenade road along the bottom of the Cayley Embankment to one lane of traffic, heading towards Colwyn Bay whilst the Cayley Promenade road will remain two-way.

If given the go ahead, footpaths would be widened on the promenade for cyclists and pedestrians with the existing outdated kiosks on West Promenade being removed.

The move is being considered to fall in line with the current Colwyn Bay Waterfront upgrade scheme and will move the work into Phase 2B of the improvements.

I was in Rhos on Sea with family members yesterday. It was really busy, probably due to the unexpected, but welcome sunshine. We found crossing the road really difficult with the volume of traffic and the need to have several sets of eyes to monitor vehicles turning out from side roads and those moving off from parking spaces. Hopefully, the scheme would alleviate some of the traffic issues rather than exacerbate them.

Plans for coastal defences, a new sandy beach, and promenade improvements for Rhos-on-Sea have been revealed to the public.

Conwy County Borough Council is publishing the proposals for the next phase of the Colwyn Bay Waterfront Project, with an opportunity for the public to comment before a planning application.

The proposals include importing approximately 1 million tonnes of sand to protect the seawall and a new, extended rock groyne. The promenade road below the Cayley Embankment would be made one-way as part of the proposals.

The council previously imported sand to the beach around Porth Eirias which has proved successful in attracting more people to the seafront.      &shake&

The front page of this week's NWWN  had the caption "One way plan for Rhos prom ...  and a million tonnes of golden sand for the beach"

When I drove along the West Shore in Llandudno yesterday there must have been a million tonnes of spare sand there ......   the only trouble was that it was  either on the grassy area or down Abbey Road!

It will be nice for Rhos though as I've seen a lot more people this year enjoying the stretch of beach by the harbour

Hi Hugo the plans look very nice, as someone says can you see the people living on top of the bank seeing all the extra traffic out side their houses 🤔,  we've had plans for colwyn bay old colwyn and now rhos proms, not one plan for Llandudno from this useless council, one very good ex councillor has said lets hope they don't take more sand from the constable bank our first line of sea defence.

Haven't they done that already when they imported millions of tonnes of sand for the West Shore?          &shake&

You are right Hugo, Interfere with the Constable Bank and you are going to cause all sorts of problems on the North facing shores.

But who are we to point out the obvious. Just look at the problems at the West Shore.

Interfere with the North Shore and you are really asking for trouble.

Outrage over plan to demolish 'iconic' art deco house by famous Welsh architect to build apartments
Proposals have caused a backlash among locals who say it should be preserved

Plans to demolish an art deco house in Rhos on Sea designed by a famous Welsh architect have sparked concerns.

Developers Commercial Development Management want to knock down the house on the corner of Marine Drive and College Avenue and replace it with five apartments and car parking.

It was designed by Sidney Colwyn Foulkes (1884–1971), known for his iconic architecture around the area.

Didn't they do that with another art-deco property not far from there?
Mad, Bad and Dangerous to know.
