It was a Polish ship that had warnings of a storm and chose to shelter in the Bay.  The crew were all happily into a lot of vodka, when the ship broke its mooring and ended up there.  Quite a crowd to see it the following morning.

This is the heartwarming moment a seal swims up to a pair of anglers for a closer look at what they are up to.

Images were captured of the animal as it swam right up to the fishermen as they were out beside the coast of Rhos-on-Sea on Thursday evening.

PLANS to demolish a historic house in Rhos-on-Sea have been withdrawn.

Residents were up in arms over Cartrefi Conwy’s proposals to demolish period property Larkfield House to develop apartments.

But the housing association has now withdrawn its application and the owner of the site has sold the property.

Campaigners: Friends of Larkfield House have been battling the development, arguing the structure is of historical significance and should have the protection of being listed building

                                                                              Tree of Lights 2020

Remember your loved ones this Christmas time by dedicating a light on the St David’s Hospice, Rotary Tree of Lights.
For a donation of your choice to the Hospice, you are invited to dedicate a light on the Hospice’s Rotary Tree of Lights to remember a loved one and support the work of the Hospice at the same time.

For every dedication, a Tree of Lights card will be sent to you by post and your loved ones’ names will also be entered into a special ‘Book of Lights’, which will be available to view online throughout 2021.

With the current restrictions in place relating to mass gatherings, it is with great regret that the Hospice will not be able to host any Tree of Lights ceremonies in 2020.

Instead, we will be streaming a virtual ‘switch on’ ceremony will be posted online on Sunday 29th November 2020 at 4:30pm for you to view your light(s) being switched on for the first time.

In order to view the service, you can visit one of the following sites:

It's a  mystery of how nearly 100 tyres were found to be embedded in the sand opposite Rhos on Sea Golf Course.
Whether it's related or not I remember many, many years ago a Rhos on Sea fisherman who also operated from Rhyl unofficially dumped many tyres out at sea to create an artificial reef.      This was done to " create a place for the fish to live and breed" but more likely for his fishing business.
The Council at the time ordered him to remove the tyres but obviously it was easier said than done.
Were the tyres ever removed, that's a mystery

This is the why air ambulance, police, fire and ambulance were in Rhos-on Sea today
Emergency crews were called out to deal with an incident

Police, fire, ambulance and the helimed were at Rhos-on-Sea, in Conwy, today after an elderly man collapsed today.

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service (NWFRS) said they were first at the scene at around 5.30pm and gave aid to casualty.

North Wales Police (NWP), the Welsh Ambulance Service (WAS) and the helimed - which landed nearby on the beach - arrived soon after.
A police car and ambulance were seen blocking the road to the incident, while emergency crews dealt with it.

A WAS spokeswoman said the helimed was not required and they were in the process of "conveying" a patient to Ysbyty Glan, Clwyd, Bodelwyddan.
There were no further details on the person's condition.   ref DP

Quite hideous, In my humble opinion. Just like the council offices totally out of place with their surroundings.

You're spot on Dave, I noticed how close the windows were to the golf course and they are bound to get a few stray shots hitting them.
Apart from that who would want to pay £600K  plus for a view of a wall

We've said the same thing about the "Monstrosity" they are planning to build opposite our's. Still look on the bright side, anyone willing to spend that sort of money to look at me having my morning scratch, is more than welcome. ))*

THERE will be no traditional ceremony for the Rhos-on-Sea’s Tree of Lights opening because of the recent Covid 19 restrictions.

The event will still go ahead in support of St. David's Hospice and the lights will be switched on at 4.30pm on Sunday November 29.

A county’s top councillors met behind closed doors to discuss funding for plans to develop former county council offices into a disability respite centre.

The scheme, at Bron y Nant on Dinerth Road, Rhos-on-Sea, was discussed by the authority’s cabinet on Tuesday.
The plans would see the site turned into a disability respite centre, with shop and cafe.

ORGANISERS of Rhos-on-Sea’s Tree of Lights have reported a record year despite Covid restrictions.

Organised by the Rhos on Sea Rotary Club the Tree of Lights this year's fundraiser for people to remember their loved ones has exceeded all previous years with a record amount donated.

The lights shines brightly on the Cayley Promenade to commemorate and remember our loved ones and has done so since the turn of the millennium when it was lit for the first time shining each Christmas in aid of our local St. David’s Hospice.

In that time it has raised a total of over £325,000 for the good work the Hospice does for our Communities and in the last 12 months alone it has enabled over £62,000 to be raised with every penny donated to St. David’s Hospice.

"You have answered our call for help and just over £34,500 has been raised through the Tree of Lights so far this Christmas.
"This is the highest ever."
