A giant inflatable obstacle course is opening in Llandudno - and it's only £2 a go

Dubbed Bounce Bodafon, its a 100ft long air-filled obstacle track set against the backdrop of the Little Orme and it’s sure to get the adrenaline pumping.
Located at the popular Bodafon Farm Park, visitors can run, bounce, dance and jump their way around the massive bouncy assault course.

There’s tunnels, scrambling walls, slippery slopes, bouncy obstacles and two large slides to tackle as thrill-seekers race to the finish.

Weather permitting, Bounce Bodafon will be open every day over the summer holidays from Monday July 30.
Suitable for both adults and children, it takes two competitors at a time and costs £2 per person for three runs.

Children must be accompanied by an adult and under three's are not permitted on the course.
The ultimate bouncy challenge is the latest addition to the Llandudno farm park’s growing number of attractions.

The park has free admission and free parking, with a host of on-site animals, an adventure playground and a licenced restaurant and bar for those preferring to watch.

For more information visit the Bodafon Farm website.                          REF DP

A giant moon created using NASA imagery is coming to North Wales after wowing crowds across the world.

The 23ft illuminated replica will hang in Llandudno’s St John’s Church, as part of a packed programme of free events celebrating the LLAWN06 arts festival.

Karine Décorne of Migrations, the organisation behind the moon, said: “LLAWN06 might be one small step for man, but our arts activities are a giant leap for Llandudno.
“Museum of the Moon, to be displayed in St John’s Church, has travelled the world, thrilling audiences along the way.
“This promises to be a mixture of moonlight and music which will be heavenly for Llandudno.”

But it is not just the moon which will be captivating visitors, with art exhibitions, street performances and creative hubs also set to bring colour and fun to the town.
Visitors can take a trip back in time with the arrival of Boudicca.

Riding a Roman Chariot built around a mobility scooter, Boudicca will bring comedy and music to the streets as she encourages others to join her on her tour of Llandudno.

Award-winning sound artist Ray Lee will be bringing his monumental outdoor interactive sound sculpture to town, creating a concert reminiscent of a peal of bells, delivered by loudspeakers housed in eight giant metal towers.

A sea monster is also set take to the coastline, to deliver a clean seas message and return unwanted plastic waste to the land, and a giant whale will further link the seaside with the town.

An exhibition of painting, sculptures, drawing and photography – She sees the shadows – will be installed at Mostyn with more than 40 contemporary artists from London-based David Roberts Art Collection re-examining familiar objects and materials in unexpected ways.

The gallery will also host artist Chris Lewis-Jones (Nu-Urban Gardeners) with participants helping to create a piece of artwork.

Mostyn director, Alfredo Cramerotti, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with a number of artists and organisations to bring fantastic art and performance to the streets of Llandudno again this year.

“LLAWN festival is a joyful celebration of contemporary art and the many ways in which it can be enjoyed – there’s something for everyone.”

CALL (Culture Action Llandudno) will welcome visitors to explore the town’s ‘lost spaces’ through installations, digital art, prints and performance by more than 30 regional artists which will shine a light on buildings untouched for years.

Cinema and music from Old Colwyn’s TAPE Community Music & Film and the transformation of beach huts to include art installations will also form part of the activities.

Sabine Cockrill, director of CALL, said: “No matter where our visitors and residents are in Llandudno over the LLAWN06 weekend, they are bound to come across artwork, performances, or installations which will make them stop, think, or get involved.

“There will be so much to explore and discover and we’ll be lifting the lid on more activities as we move forward.”

The event will run from September 14-16 throughout town including the promenade, promenade shelters, Venue Cymru , John Street, Vaughan Street, Haus – 26 Augusta Street, Holy Trinity Church, St John’s Church and the Tabernacle.  REF DP

LLANDUDNO has been credited as being in the top 10 of UK towns for welcoming visitors.

The endorsement is based on a survey by Booking.com on reviews of guests’ comments about their experience visiting the town.
The research revealed how the role of a host is vital to the overall experience of a guest and in research with over 1,000 UK travellers

It looked at guests’ appreciation of hosts who make them feel at home as well as giving local insight and insider knowledge about the best places to visit in the area.

Olivier Grémillon, vice president at Booking.com said: “As with many elements of travel, there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to catering to the different needs of UK travellers.

"Our research reveals just how important it is for accommodation owners and managers to get the balance right to ensure the most memorable experiences, whether in a home, apartment, guest house or other type of property,”

“One thing that is abundantly clear is it doesn’t matter whether travellers want to feel at home, embrace the local culture, enjoy some peace and quiet, or simply escape, there’s nothing quite like the power of people to turn a stay into an unforgettable experience.”

The survey showed little things make all the difference with 70 per cent of people classing the perfect host as someone who adds small touches that create a welcoming atmosphere.

David Hawkins, Mayor of Llandudno said: “Obviously this is fantastic news and is testament to guest house owners, hoteliers, café owners and their staff and the attitude of everyone in Llandudno.

"They are the ones who create the warm Welsh welcome, it is the people who do it.”     ref Pioneer

"That had been the spur to launch a new umbrella campaign, branding North Wales as the European Capital of Adventure."

The Swiss just might take issue with that...

Took a walk along the prom/ pier today I've seen more people on a winters day. The coach park doesn't seem busy either.

The coach park could be quiet because there seem to be a fair few coaches parked in the streets at night. The council have never replaced the 'no overnight parking' signs which has given the drivers free rein to park anywhere they can fit their vehicles.
Not only coaches, we seem to have more and more camper vans parked overnight in the streets, tonight, we have one parked up right outside our front gate !
I haven't been out on foot much lately due to a strained Achilles tendon, but the streets seem quite busy as I drive past....... Plenty of jay walkers in town ! :-\

I suspect this might have something to do with the weather forecast. For around two weeks, now, the BBC's forecast has started by describing the weather in terms of what's happening in the SE. "Well, more rain on the way and thoroughly soggy..." are the sorts of phrases used with a complete lack of awareness that Llandudno's climate (very similar to Wirral's) is one of the driest and mildest in the UK.

I honestly don't know how we get round that sort of blinkered weather reporting. If you complain the BBC laughs it off, but the reality is that it's costing people money - lots of it.

I feel the coach parties do Llandudno no favour. They fill the hotels but the guests don't stray far into town because they are fully catered. Then every day they get on the coach and head out of town on a tour.

The pubs and restaurants are quiet because most of them are not very good. Most seem to be targetting the same market as the coach parties, who as above do not actually frequent them. I know Carlo in Craig y Don and he reckons he gets maximum one or two visitors a week from people staying at the County Hotel, which given its size and proximity is nothing.

My friends have just opened 3rd Space in Clonmel Street. Trying to offer something a bit different to Llandudno. Seems to have been well received by locals and visitors of all ages. Hope they can sustain it.

As for the weather forecast, Llandudno could do more itself. Webcams are a great way of showing people what the weather is really like. I use the one in Rhosneigr to see if it is worth heading over to Anglesey, but also what weather we are likely to be getting in the next couple of hours. There is a good webcam at West Shore. The town could have a few more and promote them via social media and a website to reassure people it is going to be worth heading here for the day/weekend etc. But it would require a sustained effort.
