During the course of building work in 2011, many things from my house got lost, damaged or discarded.

One item that has just re-appeared are my bathroom scales, and now I wish that they had not.

I stepped on them last night for the first time in about 10 months, and OMG !!!   :o :o :o

I have never been over 15 stone in my life, and was a mere 14st 9lb when the scales went missing.
Now I am a disgusting 15st 5lb.  :weeping: :weeping:

I can't help but feel partly responsible for this,
But on the other hand, I have seen that the real calorie laden foods are beer, pizza and burgers... so in reality the true responsibility for my slide into obesity is Dave R.

All these visits to FatCat, Fountains, Cafe Culture, Hambone..and many other Llandudno eateries have taken their toll on my waistline.
Something simply must be done.... but its Xmas, and I fear that things may get worse before they get better.

Your brisk walk over the Orme yesterday must have been "a step in the right direction" - even if Dave R is continuing to lead you astray!   ;D

The evidence is there for all to see....

Dave does make a good point though, seeing as I need to pop into town late this afternoon, it would be rude not to avail myself of his kind invitation.
I have always been one to support local businesses after all.   Z** Z**

Don't they start getting lighter on Thursday?

Exactly right - the Winter Solstice is  21st    at    17:16

When I saw you just a few days ago I did not regard you as overweight - you are just a foot or so short of height!    L0L

I would just like to say A Very Merry Christmas to all on the Three Towns Forum.  The last year has been like no other and many times this forum has made me laugh and quite honestly saved my sanity.    I love this forum and the many friends I have made as a result of it.  I really do wish you all have a fantastic time over the Christmas Holiday and A Very Happy New Year  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Not quite;  evenings have been getting lighter for some days, now, but sunrise continues to get later until the 30th.  The 21st is merely the longest night, but not al things change equally

If Wednesday, 21st December is the shortest day then does it not follow that Thursday, 22 December will be slightly longer?

Errr, Ian.... I know I am thicker than a whale omelette... but....

If there are only 24 hours in each day... doesn't the 'longest night' make the 'shortest day' inevitable?

I'm confused, even more so when I tried Ian's link, (which I thought was going to explain all), and it came back "Error 404 - Page Not Found", so I am still in the dark, and not getting any lighter. 8)

Thank you Pendragon and the same to you and everyone on the forum.
I have been entertained by your tales and loved the walks with Socs.
Thanks to everyone for their tales, photos and advice.

Oops...

http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/sunrise.html

The 21st is the shortest day, but because of orbital issues the day length doesn't increase evenly;  dawn continues to occur later until Dec 30th, but dusk started becoming later from about the 12th Dec.  I dislike dark mornings, so my original post was simply saying there's only ten days to go before those mornings start becoming lighter.

Carlsberg has announced it's going to increase the wholesale cost by 7p a pint in January.  It's getting beyond a joke for a licensees nowadays.  Every time you turn round there's another added cost and you have to face the disgruntled customer.

The brewer has confirmed brands including Carlsberg, Tuborg, Tetley’s, San Miguel and Staropramen will all be affected by the price increase.
