I went to see Ali Gugs yesterday.  I love going to his house.  He's like a Magpie with his ever increasing collection of bits and bobs.  He's always got something new to show me.  Yesterday it was an old bottle with the words Kickapoo oil embossed on the side.  The Kickapoo are an Indian tribe and the oil was used as a cough remedy, I think the bottle dates from around 1890.  He found it on an old bottle dump in Pen. (pic 1)
He also showed me a really small leather bound bible.  I say bible as that what is says on the front, however this book turned out to be anything but the holy version as you can see from the picture.  I don't know how old it is.

They would get up to all sorts of tricks years ago to produce pornography and set the pictures in many innocent looking items.    )*)&

I meant to put these two pictures on here a couple of weeks ago.  They are huge paintings that hang in Bangor Cathedral.
Now I might have these the wrong way round, I don't know much about art as it goes.  The first called WHY is a modern interpretation of Caravaggio's Entombment c1602 - 4 painted in 2000.
The second is called STILL DOUBTING and is a modern interpretation of Doubting Thomas c1602 - 3 and was painted in 1999.  Both painted by John Granville Gregory.
Both pictures were taken on my phone and I didn't realise you were not allowed to take a photo until I read the sign after. So I apologise for the poor quality.
Amazing aren't they. I like the way the lads are wearing modern clothes and in the last picture the guy in the leather jacket reminds me of Harry Potter.  There you go my first Art Review.  Da Iawn Miss Parry.

All I can do is make 3 comments
1) They are great pieces of Art
2) I'm going to tell the Bishop.    L0L

3)  Get a new phone if you are going to make a habit of this!    _))*

That second Still was done in a Studio, rather than on location in Llandudno.

I thought the "ironwork" looked more like "woodwork"  ???

Thanks for letting us know that this would be on.  Interesting but what a poor programme, badly written hand held cameras, loud music etc.  Also I cannot believe that the miners deep in the depths of the Great Orme did not have lights that's ridiculous they must have used lamps otherwise how could they get in or out, find their way around and see which piece of rock to hack at?

There is nowhere better than Conwy Quay when the sun is shining.  That's how I spent yesterday afternoon I love those unplanned days they always seem to be the best ones. As your probably aware I know absolutely naff all about old cars  ???  John and Ken were all excited when the car below pulled up so I took some pictures.

More from Ali Gugs collection.  The first is an unusual brass lighter. I really like that.  I'll wangle it off him eventually.  The second is a momentum he bought back from Amsterdam.  He bought 2, he gave me one with a hand on and his has a mushroom. Its a tube of glass with clay mouldings.  I had to laugh when he realised they were not ornaments they were actually "crack pipes" they're still nice though.
